Cashius Slay, real name Anthony VaShaun Feher born and raised in Los
Angeles, California.
At the age of 10 Cashius fell in love with Hip Hop. While living with
his grandmother in Los Angeles Cashius turned to music instead of the
street life that surrounded him in his neighborhood. At age 13 Cashius
bounced around from living with aunts and uncles in the greater Los
Angeles area. While attending Gardena High School of Performing Arts,
he wrote his first rhyme then known as GodSun.
Cashius has always been a quiet person, who wouldn't speak unless
absolutely necessary.
It wasn't until he moved to Palmdale, California that he started to
take his craft seriously. While attending Highland High School he was
a member of a group called Ill Squad that consisted of himself and a
close friend ,Illverbalist. Cashius and Illverbalist were very
competitive with each other and that is what gave Cashius the extra
inspiration he needed. Later on he linked up with fellow high school
emcees and formed a crew called Ill Squad. Cashius was a part of
numerous high school battles that took place during his high school
years and was victorious during every battle. Later on when Cashius
attended college he hooked up with beat makers, Basses Loaded when he
recorded his first song titled, "Beauty and The Beat". Now at the age
of 25, Cashius is enlisted in the military where he continues to
record and produce his own music. Cashius will be releasing debut EP
entitled "Broken Silence" and is currently in the process of working
with local artists in the Los Angeles area and producer Illmind
(50Cent, Eminem, Little Brother and Kenn Starr) Nicolay of the Foreign
Exchange and Muneshine of the Wax Reform. Cashius Slay is definitely
an artist to look forward to hearing from in the near future and is a
sure bet to help restore the West Coast hip hop scene.

Urbansteez.com Inerview with Cashius Slay
Urbansteez.com: Tell us your name and what area do you represent?
Cashius
S: The names Cashius Slay, reppin' Los Angeles, CA.
Urbansteez.com: How long have you been pursuing a career in the music
industry?
Cashius
S: Man, I've been doing this music
thing since I was a freshman in high school. So for about 12 years now but I
recently started taking it seriously as a career within the past few years.
Urbansteez.com: 12 years....
lol that's OG years, a vet!! So, what were you into before music?
Cashius
S: Actually believe it or not, before
I fell in love with hip hop, I was into performing arts doing the drama thing.
Urbansteez.com: As an artist
how would you describe your style and why?
Cashius
S: I always love this question. My
style is like a 'Breath of Fresh Air'. It's something that hip hop needs right
now. The game is congested with this bullshit and it just needs to be aired
out.
Urbansteez.com: If you had your pick which label to be signed to,
which label would it be and why?
Cashius
S: To be honest, if I had my choice,
I'd go with a label that would allow me to make real hip hop music and not the
watered down stuff you hear nowadays. Rawkus, Stones Throw, Def Jux, or an
upcoming label that wants to build.
Urbansteez.com: Who in the future would you want to collaborate with
and why?
Cashius
S: In the future I'd love to
collaborate with real artists, Mos Def, Goapele, Jill Scott, John Legend,
Common, man I can go on all day. But these are just a few of the artists that I
admire and put out good music on a consistent basis.
Urbansteez.com:
Goapele, that's wassup ... What are you
working on now, and when can we expect to hear more music from you?
Cashius
S: Right now I'm in the process of
working on the LP. I got a few producers lined up for the project that I have
been waiting to work with, Illmind, Nicolay, and Muneshine. I have a few more
in mind but wont reveal that until its official. You can expect the LP by the
end of this year.
Urbansteez.com: Who are your influences?
Cashius
S: I don't think you have enough bandwidth
for me to list all my influences, haha, but I'll name a few. J Dilla (R.I.P), A
Tribe Called Quest, Slum Village, The Roots, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Bob
Marley (R.I.P), Nas and Pharoahe Monch.
Urbansteez.com: That's wassup!! What do you think of the hip hop /
music world right now?
Cashius
S: I Think the music world in general
has come so far and the creativity has reached levels that thePioneers before
us never thought they would see. As far as "Hip Hop", I think people
have run out of stuff to rap about. This bubble gum era needs to go away and we
need to take it back to when hip hop Had a meaning. The Public Enemy and N.W.A
days. This new generation of hip hop listeners are growing up to Laffy Taffy
and doing the Superman and its sad man.
Urbansteez.com: What will you do with your first royalty check?
Cashius
S: Put money away for my son's future
and make sure he is taken care of. Then go buy myself a new pair of Nike Dunks
and an extra value meal.
Urbansteez.com:
Lol When you make it big, what car
will you first purchase?
Cashius
S: Car? Man Im going to buy a monthly
bus pass and ride the hell out of the metro. Haha. But for real, I'll probably
buy a Range Rover.
Urbansteez.com: What's in your sound system right now?
Cashius
S: I got a cassette player that's
being held in by masking tape and 2 busted speakers that I stole from wal-
mart.
Urbansteez.com: lol....Which female in the game would you pursue first
and why?
Cashius S: Haha man I can only pick one? Alicia Keys hands down. Besides her
beauty she is incredibly talented.
Urbansteez.com: I feel that, wifey material!! How can fans contact
you in the future?
Cashius S: www.myspace.com/cashiusslay
Urbansteez.com: Any Shout outs?
Cashius
S: Yea, peace to everyone making good
music and reppin hip hop for the love. All L.A underground artists out right
now. Get at me!
