Unsigned hype kida

Born in Inglewood Ca. Father was a cocaine dealer had my mom dealing drugs for him. She later turned to using the same drugs she sold. My Dad was brutally murdered at the age of 4. Moved to St. Louis to escape California. And the people who murdered his Dad witnessed my mom doing drugs as a toddler. Surrounded by drug and alcohol abuse by most family members I moved back to Inglewood at the age of 12 where he joined the band learning Trumpet and drums. Started rhyming at the age of 13. Moved forward into high school where he continued with the band becoming drum major of the marching band at Inglewood high School. Graduating in 1996 he furthered his education at Cal State University Dominguez Hills in the Fall of 1997.Where he had planned to major in Biology, aspiring to become a chiropractor but later dropped out. Performed as an opening act for Snoop & Dj Quik in 1998. Worked with Shaquille O'neal on his Respect album later that same year. He later connected with Roc A Fella Records and Roc A Wear Clothing in 1999 to become a street promoter where he traveled between Los Angeles and Las Vegas working. Kida later coincidentally met his Grandfather no one has ever mentioned he had His grandfather later brutally killed himself on Kida's birthday late 2002.

Despite his hard times Kida created a clothing line called Oso Clothing Co. In 2002. Continuously struggling to break into the industry he stayed in the studio recording various songs and putting out mixtapes. All while struggling to keep his family of 2 kids and a wife afloat and trying to persue his dream at the same time. He was forced to take on odd jobs like throwing parties of all types, cutting hair on his lunch at work to DJin on the weekend. He formed a band in 2005 in which he hit the road with and started performing at venues in various cities from Long Beach to Santa Monica. Still today he tries to live the opposite life of which he was raised in.With a vow to stay away from guns and drugs, the very thing that destroyed his family.

KidaUrban Steez: Tell everybody your name and what area you represent?

First off, The names Kida.....I represent Inglewood, California

Urban Steez: How did you come up with your music name?

Kida: Well, The name Kida derived from my birth name Akida. Which is Swahili for leader.

Urban Steez: How long have you been doing music and what made you get into music?

Kida: I've been in music for about 16 yrs. I was in the band since a very young age. But I've been recording music for 13 yrs.

Urban Steez: Damn, That’s a long time, you have a full decade under your belt and then some. How would you describe your style and why? And what do you feel you can bring to the table as an artist?

Kida: I believe my style is a mix between everything you once loved about Hip Hop. I say that because no 2 songs I record are ever alike. I go from west to south to east, depending on the track Im writing to. And yes, I do write. (laughing)

Urban Steez: Lol, some people act like it’s a crime to write these days. If you had to pick which label to be signed to what would it be and why?

Kida: I wouldn't go anywhere else besides a.Fam baby. Why would I wanna go anywhere other than with the person (Focus...) that believed in my talent whole heartedly. And understood the message I'm trying to get across to Hip Hop.

Urban Steez: That’s exactly what you want in a label. Who would you want to collaborate with in the music industry and why?

Kida: Besides Focus...,There are a bunch of talented artist and producers that I would absolutely love to work with. Too many to name but off the top I can say Dr Dre, Andre 3000, Ryan Leslie, The Game, Dj Premier, Timbo, Jay Z.....etc, etc, etc...The list could go on and on...Real recognizes real. I wouldn't be real If I didn't say I am a fan of everybody that actually has something to say in this industry.

Urban Steez: That’s Wassup! With that being said name your top 3 artist?

Kida: (lmao) WOW....How can do this......let me see,.............................................hhhmmmmm....................................still thinking.....................Well, In NO particular order I would have to say Ludacris, Jay Z, and this new kid, you might have heard of him, I think his name is Kida...(laughing), Naw just playing, I guess I would have to say The old Ice Cube, Death Certificate Ice Cube.. Dude was dope.

Urban Steez: What are you working on now and when can fans expect to hear more from you?

Kida: I got part 2 of my Trilogy coming out late June entitled The Endemic.. Features production by Focus..., Wyldfyer, 9th Wonder, DJ Khalil, Jake One, Don Cannon, !llmind, Young RJ, Mell & D, Dae One, Dready Beats, Paperboy Fabe & one BIG Secret. The Pandemic is still available for download,The Epidemic coming soon

Urban Steez: You actually been working with some top notch producers and based on your lyrical content I know its gonna be “fire”…Where do you see yourself a year from now?

Kida: Being known as "Kida, that dude from the west who helped bring Hip Hop back to its original art form" I would be cool with just that. Oh yeah, I'd like to have a little bit of money too..lol

Urban Steez: Yessir, the west needs a make over as far as hip hop is concerned, we have been boxed up to just gansta rap… so much talent goes unheard in the west.  Who and what are your influences?

Kida: I'm influenced by my kids man. They teach me to just enjoy life no matter what it brings.

Urban Steez: Nice… What do you think of the hip hop/ music world right now?300x400kida1

Kida: I think its in a fun state right now. But I think we lost some of the seriousness of it. I think of it like the world we live in today. How bland would it be if everybody looked, talked, walked and acted the same? Pretty boring right? So I believe its room for everybody out there. We just need the real MC's and the story tellers to step back up and become relevant again.

Urban Steez: Well said , I agree! What music do you have playing in your sound system right now?

Kida: Man, all kinds of stuff.Im bumping that Al Gator right now. I'm bumping Jay, Luda, Amy Whinehouse, a little bit of everything dude, Fa real.

Urban Steez: That’s wassup! Who is your celebrity crush?

Kida: (LAUGHING) Man, I know this one right off the top of my head. Oprah and Martha Stewart...LMAO.....Dog, I'm attracted to a sexy business minds. They could teach me a thing or two. Plus Martha's gangsta, she did some time..lol

Urban Steez: Lol …. I thought it was just me who was diggin them,  now I can come out the closet lol!! How can business heads and fans contact you in the future (myspace, email, number, etc.)?
