A distinguished enterpriser who's uniquely talented, Allen Forrest does not only write his own rhymes, produces his own beats, but he created the Matchstik brand solely himself. Allen David Forrest jr, (Born February 4, 1981) better know as Matchstik was born in Fort Camble, Kentucky and raised in Dothan, Alabama. At age nine, Matchstik’s parents separated and a few months later his father attempted suicide.

Matchstik’s father, who was formerly a soldier in the United States Army Reserves, abandoned Matchstik’s family, leaving his mother to raise him and his siblings on her own. Without a father figure in his life, Matchstik found a home in the streets. It wasn’t long before Matchstik himself began selling drugs. Then, after his third arrest at age 16, Matchstik realized he had to turn his life around.

Determined not to be a victim of his circumstances Matchstik left the street life behind, dropped out of high school and passed his G.E.D. He also went on to attend college, and sequentially joined the Navy at age 20. During his journey across the country, Matchstik had a new fatal car crash where his best friend tried to kill himself and Matchstik by grabbing the steering wheel and hitting a tractor trailer while traveling at over speeds of 90 miles and hour.

After completing four years of service in the Navy and receiving an honorable discharge and several medals including, a good conduct award, he decided to leave the Navy and follow his musical aspirations on the West Coast. Matchstik's remarkable song writing abilities earn him 4 out of 5 stars on DjBooth dot net for his infectiously catchy single. “Surina’ Song ft Foreword” which he wrote and recorded him self in his studio apartment while living in Los Angeles, CA which caught the ear of London's award winning and 2x MOBO award nominee Dj Masterstepz who was nominated best club and radio Dj in 2008 (Mobo Awards) broke the record in London during his famous radio show "Masterstepz" on Choice Fm London's number one radio station.

Matchstik was also featured on Rapmusic.com which is the largest Hip Hop forum on the web, Myxer dot com, a leading ring-tone website with over 16 million users, His songs "It's Ok" and "I'm So Fly ft Jaz" was featured on two episodes of the Fox Reality show "Amazing Adventures Of A Nobody" and ultimately, he was featured on Canada’s number one celebrity blog isthishappening dot com.

Urban Steez: Tell everybody your name and what area you represent?

They call me Matchstik aka Match and I represent the world.

Urban Steez: How did you come up with your music name?

Matchstik: What happens when you strike a Match? And didn’t ya moms tell you not to play with fire? Ha ha ha better listen….

Urban Steez: Haha, fa sho! How long have you been doing music and what made you get into music?

Matchstik: I’ve been grinding this music for about 4 years now, but looking back at it’s always been my calling so I guess you can say all my life.

Urban Steez: That’s Wassup! How would you describe your style and why? And what do you feel you can bring to the table as an artist?

Matchstik: My style of music differs depends on my mood really, but it is mainly real music for real people “Sick of rappers rapping about money and so much Ice/which is cool but in every song don’t sound right” that’s a lyric from one of my singles 10 years later. I’m bringing a breath of fresh air to Hip Hop/Rap I’m letting them know it’s ok to do you and stay positive.. I’ve did everything those so called studio gangster/on the down low rappers say they have done.. and any  OG will tell you if you have done then you don’t have to talk about it because it shows.

Urban Steez: I like that ! So, if you had to pick which label to be signed to what would it be and why?

Matchstik: Who ever cutting the biggest check truthfully lol and is behind me 100% because these days you really don’t need a label.. you just need a good size budget,  but I like Universal J

Urban Steez: Very true, the label is just an army and the money behind the music. Who would you want to collaborate with in the music industry and why?

Matchstik: Jay-Z because we have similar stories and backgrounds and I think two greats on the mic would create Instant Classics

Urban Steez: That’s wassup, Jay-Z is the realist… So how do you feel you rank against top music talents today? And why?

Matchstik: I feel like I’m A-List if you ask me ha ha ha ha but I feel like amongst the Kayne’s, Lil Wayne’s, and Drake’s, I can hold my own.. look at my track record I’ve given away over 100,000 mobile downloads personally on Myxer.com, two music videos one which I’m featured in (Charlie Kris’s Hey Girl ft Matchstik”) I’m featured on Yahoo.com’s “The New Now music blog” and I gotta Billboard article coming out so I have a lot of grind ethic so that makes me a top contender in my eyes.

Urban Steez: Fair enough, you definitely can hold your own, your music is Very Official. What are you working on now and when can fans expect to hear more from you?

Matchstik: Right now I’m getting ready to release my ep “Matchstik, A story about following your heart” with songs like “Made it 2 the top ft Foreword” aka Surina’s Song, Bubble Bootie, In time, and Give Back ft Whitney to season them up on what’s to come. I just dropped the “Never Can Say Goodbye” (The Michael Jackson Tribute) which can be seen at Matchstik.net

Urban Steez: Good stuff, Im on it! Where do you see yourself a year from now?

Matchstik: On top of the charts… world domination.. Influential.. Kicking it with Oprah, Chilling with Obama in the sauna talking politics.. ha ha ha

Urban Steez: You kick with Oprah one show you become an instant millionaire lol…real talk! Who and what are your influences?

Matchstik: Well I grew up on Biggie, fell in love with Pac’s stories, Jay-Z’s hustle, Diddy’s flashyness, Nas’s vividness, Master P’s simplicity,  T.I’s swag, Eight Ball and MJG’s guttaness, OutKast’s truthfulness, Talib’s passion and Barack Obama’s will power..

Urban Steez: Well said , like Katt Williams “touché my dude, touché” lol.  What do you think of the hip hop/ music world right now?

Matchstik: I just think they need to meet me..

Urban Steez: Simple enough. What music do you have playing in your sound system right now?

Matchstik: Well I just got done listening to Drake’s “Best I ever had instrumental” I may write something to it..
