They said that Dean Martin was the "King of Cool," and they were probably right. It takes a certain type of person to become the center of attention the way he did. It's the kind of person that Orlando, FL raised, Los Angeles based rapper Reason idolizes. "Old Hollywood" seemed like light-years away for Reason, growing up and honing his craft in a place that's better known for Mickey Mouse than music. But that was never a deterrent for the young talent, who eventually found himself rapping for Diddy on MTV's "Making The Band 2". After appearing on video game soundtracks, performing all across the world, and releasing critically-acclaimed mixtapes, Reason finally decided to further emulate his idol by moving to Los Angeles. Now at age 26, Reason has matured into a natural entertainer and showman, with Rat Pack-like charisma and style. He's on the brink of releasing his debut EP "The Cool Graduate" and the music video for his single "Life of a Star," a track that certifies him as a Hip-Hop crooner extraordinaire. The budding rapper/screenwriter plans on taking the entertainment industry by storm, with great music, television, and film projects in the works. Much like his idol, Reason plans to do everything with a sense of coolness, class, and sophistication. The kind of qualities that made Dean Martin a legend. Something that Reason hopes to one day become...

Whats up world this is REASON, representing Orlando FL by way of Los Angeles California. What's good! Urban Steez: How did you come up with your music name? Reason: It came from my high school peers, every time I promoted a party or battled someone they would say I was the "voice of reason" there was always a reason to listen to me, so I stuck with it. Urban Steez: Nice. How long have you been doing music and what made you get into music? Reason: I've been doing music since elementary school. Started off with a keyboard, then snare drum and then an MP3, I knew I wanted to rap after I did a talent show and performed a Heavy D song when I was a child. But the feeling of making people move to a beat or your words is what made me get into it. Urban Steez: You definitely bring a lot of energy to the table, music is a good look for you. How would you describe your style and why? And what do you feel you can bring to the table as an artist? Reason: My style is vintage and reminiscent of "old Hollywood" with modern day hip hop, and the reason why I chose this style is because its my own and I'm a fan of the big bands live instruments etc, so it would be dope to blend the two sounds and create something fresh. I'm bringing authenticity to the table, not saying that there isn't any now, but I feel like the connection to the artist to the fan is lacking because of originality, and Im bringing a big plate of that to the table----no double dipping. Urban Steez: Lol no “double dipping”, I like how you put that. If you had to pick which label to be signed to what would it be and why? Reason: I'd pick Interscope hands down, their promotions and marketing team is remarkable. Jimmy Iovine is a genius when it comes to his artist, and that’s where it starts. If they (the label) looks at you as a true artist first, then a cash cow second then you are unstoppable. Urban Steez: Yea their marketing gets it in! Who would you want to collaborate with in the music industry and why? Reason: Thats a good question. Right now I would want to work with "Lady ga ga, J Cole , The cool Kids and MGMT. I think there the future of music. Urban Steez: That’s Wassup! So how do you feel you rank against top music talents today? And why? Reason: I honestly don't think Im in a rank with anyone in music today. Im not saying Im better then anyone but the bar is gonna be set really high this year. Urban Steez: Cant go wrong with that attitude… What are you working on now and when can fans expect to hear more from you? Reason: Right now I have my mixtape out called "The cool Graduate" based off of the film "The Graduate". You can expect to hear the EP version of the mixtape with new songs on Itunes in the middle of march. Then I have another short mixtape called "Lounge music" coming out soon, then "The Cool Graduate vol 2" later in the year. Urban Steez: Sounds Good! Where do you see yourself a year from now? Reason: At the Grammys popping bottles with my team and Urban Steez. Urban Steez: Lol Fa sho, that sounds about right! Who and what are your influences? Reason: My influences are my family and all my friends and fans who stay grinding have dreams about pursuing music. Thats what influences me to keep doing this. Urban Steez: What do you think of the hip hop/ music world right now? Reason: Its cool for right now. Hip Hop stays evolving and recycling music which has been keeping us alive for over 20 years. We are now living in a digital world where its much easier to get your music heard and its only gonna get better. I hope. Urban Steez: Well Said. What music do you have playing in your sound system right now? Reason: I got Drake, Lady ga ga, Kings of Leon, Jay-z, Kanye west, Biggie, Pac, NAS, MGMT eenie sigels first album Michael Jackson and REASON. Urban Steez: Good music. Who is your celebrity crush? Reason: Theres way to many to mention. Urban Steez: Lol Well DAMN, Playa Playa!! How can business heads and fans contact you in the future (myspace, email, number, etc.)? Reason: You can go to www.thecoolgraduate.blogspot.com or www.myspace.com/thebestreason follow me on twitter/thebestreason or Facebook/thebestreason. The greatest management firm contact Ben Rhinesmith 231-557-1377 This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Urban Steez: Any shot outs?
