When looking for one word that encompasses all that is Tolu “Young Tone” Adebayo, the word “talent” immediately comes to mind. Talent is not an acquired characteristic, it’s a natural attribute. This 18 year old R&B apprentice is as talented as they come. After singing at his Kindergarten Graduation at the age of five, Tone immediately realized that he wanted to be a performing artist. He began preparing earnestly to achieve this goal. The son of Nigerian migrants, Tone understands and exemplifies hard work; grinding out hits daily. This Brooklyn Born and Queens raised talent has the charisma and exuberance of an enthusiastic kid, combined with the savvy of a seasoned vet. He cites Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Usher and John Legend as his influences. This influence is evident in his imaginative songwriting and unique sound. Tone is unafraid to take a risk and step out of the box whenever he writes a song or records a track. He exemplifies the fortitude and confidence that it takes to become a distinctive artist. Like so many others before him, Tone honed his vocal skills while participating as a member of his Church’s choir. He formerly held the position of Lead Male vocalist in Christ Apostolic Church in Queens, New York. Tone also served as Lead Male vocalist in each of his 4 years at Andrew Jackson High School also located in Queens. He is also a well-accomplished, classically trained Saxophonist. Tone’s songwriting skills have received notice from many respected producers. He has worked with an array of producers including, Black Jack, Bell Boy, and Oshea who is known for his work with Mary J Blige and Destiny Child amongst others. As a member of myspace music Young Tone has developed a strong buzz and a solid fan base. He has received notoriety for many of his remixes including his remake of Tiffany Evans’ “Promise Ring.” He even received a vote of confidence from Evans herself when she posted a compliment on his myspace music wall. This has led to an increase in myspace hits receiving hundreds of hits daily. Tone has also received radio airplay on “Hate Money Radio,” 91.9 FM (New York), www.wmkptheroar.com, and 1. FM Jamz (New York). In 2007 Tone won the Editor Choice Award from the International Library of Poetry and finished 2nd Place at the “Faces In the Crowd Showcase.” As he continues to gain notoriety it only fuels his energy and desire to hone his craft to become the best artist he can be. The talent alone is undeniable, but when united with a genuine hunger and a relentless work ethic, you have a shooting star on a direct path for success. The future is bright for Young Tone. It is not a question of if but rather a matter of when, Tolu will emerge on to the scene.
