Cut down on the consumption of plastic bags by carrying re-usable bags. Many of you may not realize but   that those little plastic bags we all take 60 to 100 million gallons of barrels of oil to produce a year, kill  over 100,000 sea creatures annually and take over 400 years to degrade naturally. An easy way to kick  the plastic bag habit is to keep re-usable bags in your car; if you don't have a car they make them so small and compact these days that they can fit in your purse or pocket.  They are sold everywhere from your local grocery store, your local mall and even your local Bodega.
