Timing is everything.  Good things come to those who wait.  Patience is a virtue.  There's plenty of fish in the sea.  I don't buy a word of it.  You know who made these clichés up?  People who don't win. Won't ever win, and don't want to admit to themselves that they're just not cut out to be on top.  These are the sayings for individuals who when they face struggle and failure, they need an excuse to keep from facing the truth.  Instead of accepting the difficulty, getting motivated, and making moves, they allow defeat.  Timing isn't everything, make your own timeline.  Good things come to those who get out there and grab them.  Patience is lying in wait, being active gets you the win.  There are plenty of fish in the sea, but I want a whale, and last I checked, a lot of those were endangered.  Don't patronize me.  Life is tough, it's a warzone out there between the economy, the haters, and the fakers.  You're made up words of encouragement aren't going to get me back in the game.  Give me something real to work with.  Tell me I'm struggling and it's going to be tough for awhile, but if I accept it, face it, and work to change my situation or my attitude about my situation, I will make a comeback.  If the Detroit Lions can comeback from their 2008 season to be what they are today, anything is possible.

BCS Championship Series: The Vicious cycle
(4 votes, average 5.00 out of 5)

dividerand1205blog1The current system we have for BCS eligible schools in determining a champion is seriously flawed. It seems the FCS and Division II schools can make it work, but the elite league cannot. Maybe it's because everyone is so busy breaking NCAA rules, they don't have time to be efficient, I'm not really sure, but whatever it is, pull it together and let's find a solution. For years everyone complains, brainstorms, and things go right back to status quo. I'm sure there is a lot I don't understand about the process, but being that most of my career has centered around being a Division one athlete or working at the division one level, I'd like to think I have some knowledge on how things work at their root.

Kids These Days
(3 votes, average 5.00 out of 5)
dividerchildren-video-gameWhat the hell is wrong with kids these days? They're obese, they're lazy, and they completely lack imagination. When I was little, my mom told my brother and I to go play outside and come back for dinner; then she would shut the door. We spent hours playing kickball with the neighbor kids, climbing trees, and rollerblading as fast as possible down hills (in an attempt to see if we could stop before rolling down into the weeds full of snakes, I think we actually started the show wipeout).

I'm going to let you in on a little secret America; the way to solve childhood obesity, starts with making your kids get off their fat asses and outside to function as productive human beings. Between TV and video games, kids don't have to think, move, or do much of anything to develop their minds or bodies. And no, it's not the entertainment world's fault, it's yours. Your child learns from their environment and their role models. When you're not active and you eat crap, guess what? Little Johnny doesn't stand a chance either. Not only are you aiding in shortening your child's life, you're limiting their ability to contribute and thrive as an adult. Because I was forced to go out and use my imagination, I am as an adult, able to solve problems in a creative way. I don't see problems, I see solutions. Kids today don't have to think for themselves, when the power goes out, they're effed. They don't know how to build forts, fight imaginary bad guys, or host talent competitions with a boom box and a flashlight. These kids get bored. Without technology, they've got nothing. We never got bored, we never complained the N64 wasn't working. We either fixed it (ya'll remember when we thought blowing on the game fixed everything??) or we played something else. If I tried to tell my mom I was bored, she would have thought I was insane. She wouldn't have bought me a new video game or Justin Bieber DVD. She would have given me a soccer ball and told me to have a great day and come back for dinner. It really pisses me off to see generations like mine having kids and sticking them in front of the TV. Do yourself and your child a favor and show them what it means to have a healthy and happy lifestyle. Don't limit your children from the get go. Give them everything you possibly can to grow up to be as successful as they possibly can be. Otherwise, do us all a favor, and get fixed.

I have a really good friend who likes to talk about how amazing he is. And while this may seem arrogant to some, I find it to be incredibly brilliant. Through the perfect balance of seriousness and sarcasm, this man is able to come off utterly charming and irresistible (hence my total and complete infatuation with him since I met him my freshman year of college.). I can't help but think, he's onto something huge. You are a product. It is your job to market yourself in the best light possible. If you don't buy into your product, who else will? Nobody is going to draft the player who focuses on his flaws (How would Michael Vick have gotten a job??). You're going to draft the guy who plays up his strengths and realizes his weaknesses, but never dwells on them. It's the same in your personal life. If you don't believe in what you've got to offer, who's going to want to take you off the market? Everyone has insecurities, everyone has their flaws, the key is to find a balance between what makes you awesome, and what might not be your best attribute. It's a tough battle out there. Between plastic surgery, people who were born blessed, and people who have it all, you've got to be a competitor to get noticed. And the way to do that, is to be your own biggest fan. You gotta wake up in the morning, look in the mirror, tell yourself you like what you see, and face the day working it out.

Metrosexual Behavior (Men in Skinny Jeans)
(7 votes, average 5.00 out of 5)

skinny-jeansI may not be an expert in fashion, but what the hell do you men in your skinny jeans think you're doing? Fashion is freedom of expression, it's a personality and a way of being for many people. With that being said, a grown man in skinny jean says "I left my balls at home." And seriously, aren't those things bad for your balls?Cry Aren't they supposed to roam free? Honestly, I'm concerned for your health. Metrosexuality has gone too far.
I don't want to Occupy wallstreet, I want to occupy levis. I feel violated having to watch grown men walk around in jeans they bought in the Juniors department at Macys. You're a man, dress like a grown man. I can't take you seriously in life, in business, in dating, if you're wearing jeans it took you 45 minutes to squeeze into. That's what women do. You already stole our hair products, some of you stole our make up, let us have feminine fashion. Part of what makes you sexy is the effortless style, the 15 minutes it takes you to shower, shave, and be ready to go to. If I have to allot an hour for me to get ready and 2 for you, we're gonna to have some serious problems. Namely, you're staying home. I miss the good days when metrosexual style just meant a guy who could dress and had a little somethin in his attitude. He took the time to look good, but didn't add glitter and a touch of hairspray before walking out the door. Now, it means he wears eyeliner and leggings. Stop it before men are in skirts, shaving their legs, and talking about gel manicures. Get out of the tanning salon, get away from Forever 21, go back to reading Men's Health instead of People Style Watch, throw away that deep V in fuschia, take your balls out of your purse, and put them back in your pants.

I rarely talk politics, mostly because I find them boring and I don't care for other people's opinions on the subject; however, same sex marriage is something you can't get away from today. Now let me make this clear, just in case you didn't hear me the first time: I don't care about your opinion on the topic. It's my blog, and therefore I'm right. On principle, I find it disgusting that the government has a say in matters of the heart; however, I do understand that legality has a role in marriage seeing that it involves money, property, and often children. That being said, from a purely moral standpoint, it's none of the government's damn business if someone wants to marry a man or woman. If you're a good person, and you've got love in your heart, you're A okay by me.  I find it irrelevant if you're gay, straight, confused, black, white, man, woman, or both, be you, be a good person, and we can break bread (or take shots).  I don't buy the religious standpoint of marriage being wrong between same sex couples. Only God can judge me, therefore YOU cannot. Problem? Take it up with the big guy when you meet him at the pearly gates. Heterosexual marriage isn't exactly batting for the world series anyways, so that argument is out, use it for something else. I'm going to marry a man, but I'll back same sex marriage any day of the week purely because everyone deserves to be treated equally in government if they're a productive law abiding member of society.
