To some, it's just a game. A pre season game at that. But to those of us who are true bay area sports fans, this game is the difference that can make or break a season. First and foremost, let's get real, the Niners obviously won this year. I haven't counted the Raiders as an NFL team for years now, and while I may now wake up stabbed to death tomorrow morning, I'll risk it. I will say though, this is the first football game I've been to where I couldn't tell you a single thing that happened on the field. If you were watching the news, you probably noticed the fights and the shootings, oh and the fact that there will no longer be a battle of the bay for a to be determined amount of time. If you were at the game, you know that starting with the first quarter where that usher got punched in the face and

body slammed that Raider fan, there wasn't a chance in hell this was going to be a peaceful rivalry. By the time we were nearing the 4th quarter, I'd counted 12 fights and was tired just watching the SFPD running up and down the stadium steps. When the fourth quarter began I started counting a fight every five minutes, and call me a pansy, but I thought this was about my time to go. When things get tough, I can guarantee you that the smiling white girl carrying the $300 leather bag, is getting her ass beat first. Now I think fighting can be funny, watching two people yell "no you stupid homie" for ten minutes before one tells the other to "do something" can be downright amusing when the 3rd string comes in, but you mean to tell me these people paid upwards of $200 a seat to fight each other? I promise you, in other parts of the state, they'll stab you for free. I go to rivalry games to let the teams determine who wins. You will never catch me bragging "So what my team lost...I beat your ass." Absolutely not. Don't be that guy. Because not only are you in jail, your team still lost. I'm heated when it comes to my teams, I rep them all day long. The difference is, I can tell you the statistics to back up my assertions. Fighting is ridiculous. It's for the uneducated, and quite frankly Raiders fans, you're not helping your stereotype. I'm pissed and disappointed in mankind that we have to cancel a long lasting tradition in NFL football because a bunch of grown men and women (yea you saw those two breezies throwin down in the fourth) can't remember that the real battle is ON THE FIELD.
