I have a really good friend who likes to talk about how amazing he is. And while this may seem arrogant to some, I find it to be incredibly brilliant. Through the perfect balance of seriousness and sarcasm, this man is able to come off utterly charming and irresistible (hence my total and complete infatuation with him since I met him my freshman year of college.). I can't help but think, he's onto something huge. You are a product. It is your job to market yourself in the best light possible. If you don't buy into your product, who else will? Nobody is going to draft the player who focuses on his flaws (How would Michael Vick have gotten a job??). You're going to draft the guy who plays up his strengths and realizes his weaknesses, but never dwells on them. It's the same in your personal life. If you don't believe in what you've got to offer, who's going to want to take you off the market? Everyone has insecurities, everyone has their flaws, the key is to find a balance between what makes you awesome, and what might not be your best attribute. It's a tough battle out there. Between plastic surgery, people who were born blessed, and people who have it all, you've got to be a competitor to get noticed. And the way to do that, is to be your own biggest fan. You gotta wake up in the morning, look in the mirror, tell yourself you like what you see, and face the day working it out.
