Black Heartz is currently located in Baltimore, MD and was founded by a young Entreprenuer by the name of Phil Frazier. He started this brand in the spring of '09. It all started with a simple idea – design fresh high-quality unique items. Phil found himself brainstorming about launching his own brand centered around his love for graphics and minimal design. Phil didn't really know much about business let alone starting a clothing brand. What really drove him to pursue this dream was that in his generation there was a wide case of un-originality in his words. He felt the need to fill that void with something people could relate to and yet distance themselves from the un-orignal trends.

Urban Steez: Tell us your name and how you came up with the name for your accessory line?

My name is Phil Frazier Owner and Designer of Black Heartz Co. Actually I came up with the name Black Heartz from just playing around with different word combinations for my brand and Black Heartz arose from the ashes. It received an enthusiastic response from the community so its going strong ever since.

Urban Steez: So when and how did you get started?

Black Heartz: I started this brand in the spring of '09. I was freshly young in my freshman year of High School. It all started with a simple idea – design fresh high-quality unique items. I found myself brainstorming about launching my own brand centered around my love for graphics and minimal design. I felt like the design culture at the time was really lacking in this area, and apparently my design sensibility connected with many people all around my local area.

Urban Steez: What is the concept behind your designs?

Black Heartz: Well as you know the brand is called Black Heartz. So the majority of the concepts behind my designs are based around hearts.

Urban Steez: Is there a specific group of people that you are trying to grab if so explain?

Black Heartz: No not really Black Heartz is for anyone out there with steez and a sense of style.

Urban Steez: What can we expect from your accessory line in the future?

Black Heartz: I’ve got so many ideas that I can’t wait to bring to life. It’s exciting to think about what Black Heartz will look like a year from now or even five years from now. Hope you are just as excited to

Urban Steez: What are your influences for your line?

Black Heartz: There are a variety of influences for my line such as art, culture,and fashion. Even other brands such as Johnny Cupcakes have a huge influence on my brand as well.

Urban Steez: What do you feel separates your line from the rest?

Black Heartz: I feel as though I have and awesome story behind my brand which is rare to find in many other brands that are out to date. And for the simple fact that people like what nobody else has. I'd rather have a brand with longevity and character than selling my soul for some quick cash. I've decided to make all of my t-shirts limited and exclusive, only selling them through my website. Once a shirt sells out. I'm never making it again. I think that this decision will be the most valuable to my brand. It makes what I sell more than just t-shirts. It's collectible, limited, and wearable art.

Urban Steez: Give us a few fashion tips than can be useful?

Black Heartz: All I can is stay true to yourself and your style. Stray away from the un-original trends and be creative.

Urban Steez: Give us one MAJOR fashion NO-NO?

Black Heartz: DON'T try and copy someone else's swag. It'll just look second rate.
