Raven-Symone Ford (Raye S) is a 20 years old from Columbus,OH. Raven-Symoner recently started a clothing line called SLYCK(Pronounced Slick) , which is set to launch summer 2011. SLYCK is (sexy, loyal, young, chic, and Kurrupt. There is other dope woman t-shirt lines like “Married to the Mob” and “Hellz Bellz”, but "SLYCK is the shit" is what people were saying when released photos from a photo shoot held last month. SLYCK is mainly a women’s line, which also includes trends for men and kids . The line was inspired by Raven-Symone’s surroundings, music, events, or even just a feeling. For example: SLYCK is a line that doesn’t want to be another line that focus on itself, it want’s to involve customers and supporters because at the end of the day they are the ones who make the line.

Urban Steez: Tell us your name and how you came up with the name for your clothing line?

Raye S My name is Raven-Symone Ford, known as Raye S. I came up with SLYCK last summer; me and some friend were trying to find something we could hustle. We thought of crazy things. We were going to do car wash in bikinis, sell accessories, make little kids sell candy, we had jobs, but there was still too much free time. So I came up with starting a clothing line, and that’s how SLYCK came to be.

Urban Steez: Interesting!! So when and how did you get started?

Raye S: Back then it was just an idea, it wasn’t something I thought would take off. The word got out, I played with a couple designs, released them and everybody just fell for it. I planned for the actual launce to be summer 2011, but it’s so many people actually wanting product now so Im in rush mode putting everything together, I got a Slyck team behind me so everything’s coming together.

Urban Steez: What is the concept behind your clothing and designs?

Raye S: The idea of SLYCK follows the old saying “You aint Slick”. I want the clothing line to be a way for people to testify against that. Get it?

Urban Steez: I can dig it! Is there a specific group of people that you are trying to grab if so explain?

Raye S: I want to say I want SLYCK to be for everybody, but it’s not. It’s for those who those fashion freaks who be tricked out from top to bottom, some Teyona Taylor type stuff.

Urban Steez: What can we expect from your clothing line in the future?

Raye S: I don’t really know what’s in store for SLYCK. Honestly I didn’t think it would take off as fast as it did and have this much support. If anything I want to stay humble and keep working hard to be successful in this industry. I hope to have it in stores and do a couple collaborations with other designers and charities.

Urban Steez:Yea that will be the business…What are your influences for your clothing line?

Raye S: Im influenced by a lot, I sit with my headphones and laptop and be in my zone. It depends on how I feel, If I’m hurt, I’m going to design a shirt that express that. I remember I had my heart broken; it inspired me to design a shirt in the spring collection “SLYCK don’t love”. It’s not that easy though, there are times I have a designer’s block but nothing serious.

Urban Steez: What do you feel separates your line from the rest?

Raye S: When I launched my line, a lot of girls got in contact with me looking for opportunities in modeling, in styling, hair styling all these things I realized SLYCK was going to be different as far as consumer relations goes. Im from Columbus ,OH. I decided to involve people who are local to support them and be supported. You can say its win-win situation.

Urban Steez: Give us a fashion tip than can be useful?

Raye S: Don’t be scared. I saw somebody on OSU campus with a full body nude suit. It freaked me out, but was cool. There is no limit to fashion.

Urban Steez: Lol, maybe that somebody was crazy, or was simply having a out of body experience. Give us one MAJOR fashion NO-NO?

Raye S: A fashion no-nohmmmm. Sagging pants, do people still do that? (Guy walking by) I guess they do.

Urban Steez: Lol, to each it’s own..What have you learned being an up and coming clothing line, Good and Bad?

Raye S: You really have to be focused. It’s not singles at a strip club you can’t just throw it out there. Its mad work if you want to be successful. I was raised by an entrepreneur; my mother had her own boutique and daycare center, so I know some things. Also, you can’t be scarred to invest in yourself. You will have to put something in to reap rewards later. The hardest thing for me is time; I don’t think there is enough.

Urban Steez: I definitely agree. What are three things you can’t live without?

Raye S: 3 things I can’t live without my phone, money, and basketball players. What?I’m afraid it’s true.

Raye S: Either way I’m SLYCKER den her. (Actually the first design) and SLYCK is the shit.
