t-shemise300x600Urban Steez: Tell us your name and how you came up with the name for your clothing line?

My clothing line named is T’Shemise- T is for Tiffany and Shemise is my middle name which ironically means loosely fit dress or shirt.

My accessory line is named Pink Lucy because Pink is my favorite color and my mother who is a great inspiration in my life, calls everyone “Lucy” as a term of endearment.

Pink Lucy is the rebellious little sister of T’Shemise- I call them the dueling fashionable sisters!

Urban Steez: So when and how did you get started?

Tiffany: I started designing when I was 14 years old. My mother and father both modeled- and my father was a great artist. I grew up in a home that encouraged the arts and creativity.

Urban Steez: Very creative DNA.. What is the concept behind your clothing and designs?

Tiffany:I am in love with color! My clothing rebels against the norm and refuses to conform. My clothes are the “edge of glam” glamorous in an unconventional, edgy way. It is statement making clothing and the accessories definitely seals the deal! I make conversation pieces- when a woman walks in a room all heads should turn!

Urban Steez: Nice. Is there a specific group of people that you are trying to grab if so explain?

Tiffany:My target market is women ages 18-35, this is the group of people that are in transition. At 18-25 you are discovering who you really are and relishing in that new found treasure. From 26-29 you know exactly who you are, have a career and reward yourself by splurging a little bit to be extra fab! When you are 30-35 you still want to be hip but you can’t go overboard so you add a little spice to make your look little edgy but age appropriate. That is why we are the EDGE of GLAM!

Urban Steez: Nice well said!! What can we expect from your clothing line in the future?

Tiffany:Continued expansion! Eventually I would like to offer home accessories and even design furniture. I am obsessed with contemporary furniture that makes a statement. My condo is definitely a depiction of that- its bold, contemporary and a depiction of me- very fashionable. My living room wall is pink and has an old Hollywood theme with black and white photos of Hollywood Starlets. Next is a collection of high fashion home accessories with bold colors, embellishments and fashion themes.

Urban Steez: I see!! What are your influences for your clothing line?

Tiffany:I am definitely influenced by color and popular culture but I infuse my personal style! I feel that every woman should be absolutely gorgeous in the skin that she is in and own who she is- with pride! I love the 1940s and 1950s but I am obsessed with the 80s. It is safe to say that I draw influences from everything around me, when I design I depict my perception of our world and focus on the beauty it exudes! Simply I want to make a statement!!!

Urban Steez: I can see with you play a little with the vintage and 80s theme, you do a great job exposing that in your pieces. What do you feel separates your line from the rest?

Tiffany:My line definitely pushes the envelope but it does it in a way where it is not too much but just enough to make a statement. My personality is infused into every garment that I design. It is a youthful spirit that delights in the freedom to be EXACTLY who you are. I make clothing that exudes confidence and power- when a woman wears my clothing she is in control!600x200t-shemise

Urban Steez: By what I see you have to be confident wearing your designs, because your designs are outside the box, which makes your line unique. Give us a fashion tip than can be useful?

Tiffany:Always make your look interesting by putting unconventional things together. For an interesting outfit add a punch of color and try dressing in themes. For instance the next time you and the girls go out for dinner dress as one your fav Sex and the City characters or dress bohemian. Theme dressing is fun and interesting and it keeps your look fresh and new.

Urban Steez: Give us one MAJOR fashion NO-NO?

Tiffany:Matching! No matching, only coordinate. Just because your dress is purple does not mean that you have to wear purple shoes with a purple bracelet, purple earrings, and a purple purse. It destroys an outfit every time and makes it extremely boring!

Urban Steez: Lol, I seen a few people get carried away with the whole matching concept a time or to, and it’s not a good look. What have you learned being an up and coming clothing line, Good and Bad?

Tiffany: WOW…I don’t think we have time! I have learned that you have to stay true to who you are as a designer, regardless of the trends. Trends should be the foundation but your own design aesthetic should be the blueprint that you follow. When you build your collection simply on the trends and neglect who you are as a designer you loose the cohesiveness and continuity of your brand. You have to streamline and be known for something that is consistent with your line. For instance my customers can always expect embellishments, color, and body conscious dresses from all of my collections!

I have also learned that your personality and the way that you treat your customers are the key ingredient to a successful business. In addition; you have to be a walking representation of your brand. You should always look well put together, wear your own clothing and become the spokesperson for your line. You cannot afford to ever have an off day because someone is always watching. You become the depiction of what style really is and people look to you for what they should be wearing next. When people find you interesting and inviting it builds customers loyalty and a great level of respect. Cater to your customer’s needs and always let them know how much you appreciate their business- give them the personal attention they deserve and you will have a customer for life!

Urban Steez: Good Stuff! What is the best way to get a hold of your threads?

Tiffany: I have a showroom and studio in Shreveport, Louisiana, Pink Lucy Studio+ Showroom. My clothing and accessories is also sold at Too Groovee in Bossier City, Louisiana and online at www.t-shemise.com. We also have a fashion service entitled Pink Dynasty. We send our customers new HAUTE accessories monthly for one low price. Our Pink Dynasty members get our new accessories before anyone else gets them at a wholesale price.

Urban Steez: Will do. Every Clothing line usually has a “motto” or a “saying” that represents there clothing line, what is yours?

Tiffany: T’Shemise: “Envy is the greatest complement”

Pink Lucy: “Street glam with a high fashion twist”

Urban Steez: I likes! Any additional words you like to say to your supporters?

Tiffany: Thank you for your continued support and loyalty. We are committed to keeping you absolutely fabulous and chic. T’Shemise and Pink Lucy is a success because of our fashion forward customers!
