What is a dream? Some may say a dream is nothing more than a vivid thought created while sleeping while others say a dream is something that will never manifest. To achieve a dream one must possess a dedicated work ethic, constantly strive and have a never give up attitude towards your goal. Failure is the greatest way to achieve success because success is greater appreciated once you have experienced failure. If there is one person that possesses the passion and desire to turn dreams into realities it is Courtney M. Gonsalves also know as Fly C. This gifted and fierce lyricist was born October 8th, 1988 on the tough, lower class streets of Boston, Massachusetts, in a neighborhood known as Roxbury. Growing up FLY C rapped as a way to cope with stressful everyday problems and adversity. Fly C’s clever word play helped him to realize that rapping was not only a way to relieve stress but also a way to display his creativity. After gaining the confidence to perform in front of crowds at the tender age of thirteen and noticing the reaction of peers and spectators, he recognized that this was a dream he had to pursue. Fly C was influenced by artists such as Jay-Z, Can-I-Bus, Big Land and, The Notorious B.I.G. As the popularity of these artists increased their lyrics were being recited by students in school and individuals in the street and Fly C knew that it would only be a matter of time before fans would be repeating his lyrics. Years of freestyling, ciphers, and battles helped develop this young mans unique style of rap and the use of his punch lines to excite the listeners. This dream came true with the release of his solo mixtape in 2007 entitled "2nd Son Of Jorell" in which FLY C demonstrates his lyrical ability with the use of distinguishing punch lines as well as discussing his life events as though it was a movie.
