Da Boy Bake is an example of a true MC, with raw talent, coming out of Southern New Jersey. Bake has a very diverse style that makes it hard to distinguish his true genre of music which he considers to be KNARLEY! With singles 'In Da Building", "Snap Back On", "Cant Be Yo Man", and "When Its Time" expresses Da Boy Bake diversity and musical talent. Bake has a coveted style that reminds listeners of the hip hop featured in the early 1990's. With the drive to stay relevant Da Boy Bake mixes the old school with the new school and creates an original sound.
Outside of music, Bake understands the concept of being a BRAND. In doing so Bake has established a few item that seemed to grasp consumers attention. The Knarley Chain which is currently being negotiated for in store sells with various retailers, has grown to be a fan favorite of Bake's Knarley movement. The "U Gotta Love Me!" t shirts have been creating sells since 2007 and never get old, with the flashy colors and self enhancing phrase 'U Gotta Love Me! To add to Bakes branding abilities he is going through biddings with independent clothing companies to sponsor him and be a marketing to for other companies.

Da Boy Bake -  Snap Back On

300x800boybakeUrban Steez: Tell everybody your name and what area you represent?

Da Boy Bake I come New Jersey, but South Jersey to be exact. I call it the 51st state , because people don’t know about us only the shores and north jersey, and most important my KNARLEY! lifestyle.....

Urban Steez: How did you come up with your music name?

Da Boy Bake: My name came from high school football. Shake n Bake then people just called me Bake for short, So Bakes been my name I just added “da boy” , as a catch phrase for the ladies lol.

Urban Steez: Haha can’t go wrong with that! How long have you been doing music and what made you get into music?

Da Boy Bake: Ive been recording only since 07'. and I started doing music only to prove I was better than this dude who said he was the nicest in my hood and he wasn’t even nice to me. Ive been going hard ever since!

Urban Steez: I see… How would you describe your style and why? And what do you feel you can bring to the table as an artist?

Da Boy Bake: My style is UNIQUE! I say that because I just say what’s on my mind point blank period! I make songs on subjects that may be considered left field. For example “Glitter Finger” a song about guys not wanting to get married even if he has a good girl. Or Through “The Eyes Of A Minivan”... which is a song about the view of the world of a working man who doesn’t get praised for doing the right things in life vs a drug dealer everybody embraces. I feel I can bring the bridge between nerds and gangsters, because I fall right in that category and have the ability to fit in with both crowds.

Urban Steez: That’s wassup, I’ve always had the ability to be corporate or hood so I can relate. Truth be told the future is much brighter on the corporate side… If you had to pick which label to be signed to what would it be and why?

Da Boy Bake: E1 because they are indie and I would have a lot of flexibility on doing the things I would like to musically. Make only the stuff I enjoy and not follow these lame trends.

Urban Steez: Man so many artist are slaves to their labels, it’s a sad, sad, game!! What’s the biggest challenge you feel you face as an artist?

Da Boy Bake: My biggest challenge is getting heard. In south jersey, well new jersey period we depend on other states for radio. Our stations are either AM, No Hip Hop or FM that reach to south jersey. It’s rough, but only the strong survive!

Urban Steez: Damn that’s all bad Bruh!! Man if it wasn’t for internet we would be shit out of luck  musically… I see now, you might be just what your city needs! Who would you want to collaborate with in the music industry and why?

Da Boy Bake: Lupe Fiasco and Curren$y because they do what they want and don’t allow labels to change their styles. Not to mention Ii feel we would make sum good records together.

Urban Steez: I can see that! So how do you feel you rank against top music talents today? And why?

Da Boy Bake: I feel I rank with the kid cudi's, wale's, wiz khalifa's. You know, new style of old school hip hop that appeal to college students, older crowd, and the hood as well. Old school hip hop is making a comeback and I'm as good as the best leading in that category.

Urban Steez: What are you working on now and when can fans expect to hear more from you?

Da Boy Bake: I have a major single I’m pushing called "In Da Building" produced by Atlanta super producer on the come up Mike Will Made It. He’s done joints for Gucci Mane, Oj Da Juiceman, Titty Boy, Wacka Flacka, and the list goes on. Shouts to him for linking up wit me. My second single "Cant Be Yo Man" produced by Napoleon Suarez, video is set to be on programming worldwide as well as some majors. You will have to watch and see which ones in about 2 months.  Also I’m on my International Groove, I’m set to do a tour in the UK in November, as well I will be releasing a mixtape called "Cassette Music" in May. This is planned to be my breakout tape which will get me the proper recognition I deserve. So everybody can check me out!

Urban Steez: That’s what I like to HEAR!! You got a lot on your plate so I know you’re Hungry!! Where do you see yourself a year from now?

Da Boy Bake: In a year I see myself well known across the country as an elite unsigned artist, as well as opening at the best venues for major artist. I expect to be a household name on the underground. I prefer to be indie over a major label.

Urban Steez: At the rate you’re going that’s very reasonable...Who and what are your influences?

Da Boy Bake: My home state has a big influence on me, because at the end of the day we all are just products of our environment. and NJ made me! A artist who I’m inspired by is Curren$y, because as an indie artist he is relevantly making good money and still doing him. Hes self made!

Urban Steez: I hear that, he gets it in fa sho…What do you think of the hip hop/ music world right now?

Da Boy Bake: Hip Hop is ok but the overall music world is terrible. If I don’t make a song in autotune, or talk about swagg, or talk about being gangsta you can’t get an A&R attention. Its sad what its come to. And everybody just copies each other and get praised while the different styled artist get laughed at or overlooked.

Urban Steez: LOL Funny but TRUE!! What music do you have playing in your sound system right now?

Da Boy Bake: I have my 1st album U.G.L.Y. (u gotta love yourself) playing right now. I constantly listen to my work to see what Ii can do better next time or say that’s more intriguing. I’m a hard critic on myself. I just want to perfect my craft.

Urban Steez: That’s wassup!! Who is your celebrity crush?

Da Boy Bake: Halle Berry always was and always is.

Urban Steez: How can business heads and fans contact you in the future (myspace, email, number, etc.)?

Da Boy Bake: Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and ReverbNation all under the name Da Boy Bake and my website www.DaBoyBake.com

Urban Steez: Any shot outs?

Da Boy Bake: Shout to my movement Knarley Entertainment, Problem, Age, Lily Nu, J Stro, Gav Da Island Boy, Big Worm, Jazzy Ellis, DJ D Scott, Doc C, DJ Kid Relly, DJ Danny T, Mello Mel from Switzerland, Matt from Bluelight Digital Sound, all other DJs that support my music, and my hood "SUNBURY!" Big shout out to urbansteez.com for having me. And final shouts to the world take notice Jersey is in da building. U GOTTA LOVE ME!!!!!!
