"Welcome to the District.." H.I.S.D. (Hueston Independent Spit District) was born in 2005 through the collaboration of eight artists of varying mediums wanting to introduce a refreshing perspective to the sound and visual aesthetic of hip hop culture, classic soul music, poetry, visual art, fashion, and photography.
Mutual respect and appreciation for the cultural significance and influence achieved by creatively bridging these art forms, brought Savvi (hip hop artist/entrepreneur), Equality (poet/writer/emcee/architect/visual artist), LdaVoiceScottie Spitten aka Lenoge(emcee), plus GoldenSoulClassics which consist of producers, King Midas, Soul One (DJ/radio personality), E-Classic, and Jason "Flash Gordon Parks" Woods (photographer/DJ), together to form H.I.S.D under the Peace Uv Mine Entertainment Group umbrella. (emcee),plus GoldenSoulClassics which consist of producers, King Midas, Soul One (DJ/radio personality), E-Classic, and Jason "Flash Gordon Parks" Woods (photographer/DJ), together to form H.I.S.D under the Peace Uv Mine Entertainment Group umbrella.

Urban Steez: Tell everybody your name and what area you represent?
HISD: My name is Eric. I go by the name E.Classic, some call me Classical. I represent the "Nawfside" of Houston, Texas...Studewood to be exact.
EQuality representing Hueston, Tx.
Ldavoice reppin all of Hue.
I go by the name of Scottie Spitten and I represent everywhere. LOL. I've lived in a bunch of different places. I'm "Allwhere". I spent most of my life in San Diego, CA, but I've been living in Houston for about 4 years now.
King Midas, Hueston TX.
FLASH GORDON PARKS, Photographer/DJ/Graphic Designer/Documentarian reppin Hueston.
SoulOne (producer/DJ/journalist)Reppin' the Sunny(er) side of Hueston, as well as Alief.
Savvi, Hue-Tex, Homestead.
Urban Steez: Fa sho!! How did you come up with your music name?
Scottie Spitten: Scottie Spitten is a flip from Scottie Pippen one of the most underappreciated NBA players ever. LOL. Me and King Midas was sitting at the house one day just throwing names around and since we are huge basketball heads and fans of Scottie Pippen it just came up. It had a nice ring to it, so I kept it.
Urban Steez: That's Wassup!! How long have ya'll all been in the music game?
Savvi: Individually different time lengths, but as a group, goin on 4 years.
Urban Steez: I know ya'll been getting it in, if Quest love mentioned your name for hottest MC's of 09'.. How did ya'll feel when he put ya'll out there?
Ldavoice: It was an honor seeing as though we're all Roots fans. I know myself personally, I'm on Okayplayer.com checking for all the fresh new music everyday, so to see yourself on a site that you admire because of its musical cred, you're overwhelmed. And then to have a legend give you a thumbs up......PRICELESS. Oh yeh, on another note Black Though is one of the most underrated and underappreciated MC's of all time.
Urban Steez: Yea thats huge, but after listening to your music, it was a "No Brainer"!! Ya'll music hits the spot!! How would you describe your style and why?
E.Classic: Our sound is just our sound, A full serving of Soulful Hip Hop. Personally, I dont really have a specific style... I just create what I'm feeling at the moment. One day I may feel like producing a laid back, neo soulish type joint while 30mins later, I may tap out some good ol boom bap. I just do me.
King Midas: A little bit of all my influences that make up me such as soul music ,jazz music, hip hop music, rock, new age, and a lot of other types of music.
Urban Steez: Basically everything good!! Being with an independent label what have you been able to accomplish?
Savvi: A peace of mind to do what you love, and full creative control to keep making dope music.
Ldavoice: Yup, what he said.
Urban Steez: Being extremely talented what obstacles do you guys still face, and what do you do to neutralize that?
Equality: Trying to balance our musical lives with our professional lives. To help neutralize it we schedule our musical lives around our professional lives to ensure that everyone is able to be accommodated based on when we are all free at the same time, so when we meet nothing outside the music will interfere with our creative process
Urban Steez: I see..Who would you want to collaborate with in the music industry and why?
Scottie Spitten: Doom! Lyrically that dude is on another level. I've always wanted to work with De La cuz they have been an inspiration to me for a long time. When you talk about longevity and how they've been able to change with the times without comprimising the integrity of their music, why wouldn't you want to work with cats like that? Madlib, Black Milk, etc...the list just goes on. There's a lot dudes I would like to work with.
Urban Steez: Man, imma have to get on that google and see whats really good!! What are ya'll working on now and when can fans expect to hear more from you?
Scottie Spitten: Right now, we are in the process of working on our 2nd LP. The ideas are already flowing. We're about to get in the studio and start knocking some joints out. Everybody should be on the lookout for it during the 4th quarter of 09'.
Urban Steez: Im on it, looking foward for that to drop!! Who are your influences?
Soulone: J Dilla, James Brown, Pharrell Williams, Stevie Wonder,
Kanye West, Thelonius Monk, Pete Rock. And for the group, just good music, too many people to name man.
Urban Steez: What do you think of the hip hop/ music world right now?
Flash GP: I think there is so much great music being made right now. Even though it may not always be readily accessible it exist. I've always been a believer that if something is really great it will be discovered. With the aid of the internet I think people are digging a lil deeper...turning over more stones to find the sounds that fit their taste.
Urban Steez: I AGREE, yea Ive dugg up some amazing music in the past!! What do you feel you bring to hip hop?
King Midas: Something Fun, Something fresh.
Urban Steez: On a personal note. Any celebrity crushes?
E.Classic: hahahaha! well, she doesnt have the "celebrity" status yet...but she is a very talented, intelligent young lady. Esperanza Spalding. Shes dope on the bass and her voice sounds similar to the ocean breeze brushing against palm trees. hahaha!
Equality: Yea I want our music to crush these celebrities on the radio and videos right now LOL
Flash GP: Taraji P. Henson.....I think she's an excellent actress and with the right string of roles the world will recognize her more.....
Soulone: "Crush the amateurs who claim they keep it real" (c)

Urban Steez: Any shot outs?
Ldavoice: To God for life, creativity and music, all of the pioneers who put it down b4 us, our Hueston Folk, those who've held HISD down from the jump, all the new fans, Rappersiknow.com, Wax Poetics, Okayplayer.com, and you for the Interview. We really appreciate all the love.
