Nesha Deshaun - Decline
Urban Steez: Tell everybody your name and what area you represent?
Nesha Deshaun! Memphis TN…
Urban Steez: How long have you been doing music and what made you get into music?
Nesha: I started singing since I could talk. Then at age 11 I picked up songwriting. It started out as writing about some guy I had a crush on at school, to writing about my personal everyday life. I had no music to go along with my melody and lyrics and so pretty soon i develop a love for producing. Soon after that engineering fell in line. I would sit in my room on the computer, making music.
Urban Steez: Nice… How would you describe your style and why? And what do you feel you can bring to the table as an artist?
Nesha: My songwriting style is very eclectic. I would write a country song if it was on my heart. As far as my style as an artist, I would say I represent for the ladies. There are a lot of things women want to say, but are afraid to say. I speak for them. I don’t hold back.
Urban Steez: You can never go wrong with that approach… What do you feel has been your greatest experience thus far as a music artist and why?
Nesha: I’d say my greatest experience as an artist is getting on stage. Its very cool to get on stage and hear the people in the crowd feeling your music, your personal thoughts and experiences that other people can relate to...great feeling!
Urban Steez: What do you feel is the biggest challenge you face being an artist?
Nesha: I’d say MONEY!!! Being independent is a hard outlet because you have to everything yourself. There is no label backing you up with money. I still appreciate it though, because the grind is so much more fulfilling when you realize you made that happen for yourself.
Urban Steez:I couldn’t agree with you anymore. So how do you feel you rank against top music talents today? And why?
Nesha: My take on that is I can run with the best of them. I always strive for greatness, and I love competition because it helps us all grow as artist. I wouldn’t do anything that cannot compete against my favorite artist/songwriters.
Urban Steez: Luv it!! What are you working on now and when can fans expect to hear more from you?
Nesha: Right now I’m working on my mixtape “Hissy Fit”!!! That should be completed late January. Thats just to get my name out there. My album is “Running Mascara” and that should be out when God blesses lol.
Urban Steez: Definitely hit us up when that drops!!! Give readers one tip about pursuing their dreams?
Nesha: Stay focused and GRIND!!! The music industry to me is 80% grind, 20% talent!!! You don’t have to be the best singer/dancer/etc. If you have support and a hustlers mentality, you will get SOMEWHERE!!! If you listen to the radio, you know what I mean lol.
Urban Steez: Yup.. So what do you want to accomplish as an overall artist?
Nesha: My goal as an artist is to reach out to people that feel like they may be the only one going through something. My goal is to be that voice that speaks for all women and some men who has ever been hurt to let them know that they to can get through it and that there is life after a break up.
Urban Steez: Who and what are your influences?
Nesha: Mostly my influences comes from my personal life. I hate to admit it but past relationships and lame ex’s is the fuel to the fire. As far as who I look up to, I have to say Beyonce!! Everything she touches turns to gold. Her drive is incredible. Her voice is amazing, and she really knows how to capture an audience. Who wouldn’t admire her. Very inspiring woman!
Nesha Deshaun - You Aint Gotta
Urban Steez: Jay Z sure know how to pick em!! What do you think of the R&B/ music world right now?
Nesha: I feel like R&B kind of lost it for a minute but is making a huge comeback as we speak. Society has taught us that music is not good music unless its “club” or “shake junk” music. That is why I appreciate artist suck as Tank, Jasmine Sullivan, Melanie Fiona, etc. People that don’t have to sell out to sell.
Urban Steez: Where would we be without R&B? That’s a scary thought! What music do you have playing in your sound system right now?
Nesha: Right now I’m listening to Keri Hilson “No Boys Allowed”....love it!!
Urban Steez: Funny you say that, because you and Keri have similar styles with a hint of “Ciara”… Who is your celebrity crush?
Nesha: Lol....wow everybody loves Trey Songs!!
Urban Steez: LOL, Damn I wonder how it would feel to live in his shoes for a day!! How can business heads and fans contact you in the future (myspace, email, number, etc.)?
