Pozzie Mazerati - Most Wanted
Urban Steez: Tell everybody your name and what area you represent?
Name is Pozzie Mazerati, I rep Philly all day. Currently living in LA right now.
Urban Steez: How did you come up with your music name?
Pozzie: My family gave me the name Pozzie as a child hood nick name and it just stuck “Mazerati” came later…
Urban Steez: How long have you been doing music and what made you get into music?
Pozzie: I guess you can say from the womb since my parents met in music school, shortly afterwards I was conceived. My father had me in a little music group as a kid for a brief stint. Being raised by my grandmom who was a seamstress I developed a love for Fashion so after high school I went to college for fashion design, then started my own line after graduating. I still felt something was missing so back to music I went…and here I am. Like I always say “Fashion was my first love; Music turned me out tho…”
Urban Steez: How would you describe your style and why? And what do you feel you can bring to the table as an artist?
Pozzie: I would say my style is classic hip-hop with a twist of modern edge. What do I bring to the table as an artist? I sound like ME…. Not trying to be anyone but ME. Also, I don’t curse in my music. My music ranges from club bangas to jingles for corporate companies.
Urban Steez: If you had to pick which label to be signed to what would it be and why?
Pozzie: Hmmm.. That’s a good question. I think the best answer I could give would be my own label. But since I’m not established with one just yet I would go with one that has been around for a while, still relevant and would have a place for an artist like myself to be noticed.
Urban Steez: Good Answer. What’s the biggest challenge you feel you face as an artist?
Pozzie: The Biggest Challenge is being a female in a male dominated industry. Its no joke! But I hold my own quite well. I attribute that to having mostly male best friends and being schooled by the best.
Urban Steez: Yea female artist do have a huge challenge, but by the looks of things with watching the BET awards and all, watching Nikki Minaj accept her trophy I feel there is a big need for female artist…. Its just a matter of time. Who would you want to collaborate with in the music industry and why?
Pozzie: I have a lot of artists I would love to collab with, but I’ll try to keep it short: Nas, Prince, Fabolous, Julia Nunes, Red Café, Nikka Costa (where has she been?), Pomplamoose, Amy Winehouse (who passed away, speechless), ColdPlay, Busta Rhymes, Apollonia, J.Cole, Tune-Yards, Young Chris, Kate Micucci, Eve……I guess that was keeping it short =)
Urban Steez: So, that was your version of keeping it short lol, smh!! So how do you feel you rank against top music talents today? And why?
Pozzie: How do I rank? Well that’s something I would like for fans to answer. I’m not into the whole “I’m so amazing thing” I rather let my work speak for itself and let the listeners be the judge of how I rank.
Urban Steez: What are you working on now and when can fans expect to hear more from you?
Pozzie: Currently I’m finishing up my project entitled “Red Arrow” just shot the music video for the single “Dear Listener” which was picked up by Direct TV so I’m kinda geek’d about that. Up next in addition to the release of Red Arrow is The Rhythm and Remedy International Tour coming up in 2012. Rhythm and Remedy was actually founded by myself and another artist (NC Abram) it’s the first Hip Hop Tour that will be donating 100% of the proceeds to the poverty-stricken areas we will be visiting. I’ve set a goal to raise 250K. Destinations of the tour include: South America, USA, Asia, Africa, India and the United Kingdom
Urban Steez: I likes, it appears you have a lot on your plate for 2011, keep it up!! Give us a quote, the best represents what you are about?
Pozzie: Beats and Bras!
Urban Steez: As simple at that! Who and what are your influences?
Pozzie: My influences range from childhood experiences to heart break to love to pain and to just everyday life. My main influence is my need and desire to succeed above and beyond even my own expectations.
Urban Steez: If music never existed what do you think you would be doing?
Pozzie: If music never existed I would be doing my other loves Fashion, Acting, Dancing, Painting, and Overall CREATING. And even with music existing I still do these other things. I don’t know what I would do without the other. I need them all in some form to balance me.
Urban Steez: Nice. What do you think of the hip hop/ music world right now?
Pozzie: The Hip Hop world right now has some very impressionable artists. And it also has a lane wide open in my opinion for an artist such as myself. I feel everyone has something to offer. Hip Hop to me isn’t just one thing. Hip Hop is different vibes, different, flows and different forms of expressions for different people. That’s what makes music go round. Some might love it some might hate it. But at the end of the day its every artist right to express themselves freely sharing with the world what Hip Hop is to them. However, Its always nice when what you’re sharing people can feel, love and appreciate. Hip Hop to me is Freedom.

Urban Steez: I like how you put that, Hip hop is one genre you can’t put into a box… What music do you have playing in your sound system right now?
Pozzie: Earlier had my iHome on shuffle: J.Cole, Pomplamoose, Lupe and Pharoahe Monch were a few to pop up in the flow.
Urban Steez: That’s quite a lyrical rotation. Who is your celebrity crush?
Pozzie: Haha I’ll never tell.
Urban Steez: How can business heads and fans contact you in the future (myspace, email, number, etc.)?
Pozzie: Email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. | www.pozziemusic.com
