Safe2woSay is the coming of age kind of talent. He is a well rounded producer and song writer born and raised in Orange, New Jersey. Though he found his passion for writing at the young age of twelve, as he grew older he found that anything that involve music is what make him feel whole. Sometime in his sophmore year at Orange High School he formed a group with his friend Nathan Varley (rapper), Christorpher King (rapper/producer) and Johnathan Hatcher (rapper). Unfortunately the group did not get to do much due to members moving. Finally during his junior year he met with three other individuals that will form SoundBox Banditz. While taking digital media and production classes with Charlie Steiner and David Milnes, he heard a song on one of the Macs Steiner provided and asked the artist to met with him after school. From there started working and recording together, there was a great vibe amongst Cliford "Potent-Chill" Pierre, Ray "Sykez" Sykes and Sem "S Dibbz" Etienne. His senior year he has performed with them at various locations, released three mixtapes (two of them being solo works) .

He recently released a series to his #WhatLeftBeatsMixtape vol.1 , 2 & 3 . All sampled beats which he put online for artist who may need some. He knows how it feels to be a rapper and no one try to help him out or try to over charge him for beats. He is also working on his Self titled Mixtape..."Safe2woSay "Looking forward to putting his all into it , while getting help from some new friends on the project. Pursuing his dream hasn't always been easy. There has been a couple of doubts, differences with his manager and questioning his abilities, but with the help with his team and close friends, he now understands that this music business is where his new home will be. It's safe to say that his mission is to let other people know that being afraid of opinion from peers and getting put down is sort of like a building process to make anyone a fine musician.

Safe2woSay - My Friends (Prod. Safe2woSay)

300x400safe2wosay

Urban Steez: Tell everybody your name and what area you represent?

My name is Safe2woSay and I represent Orange , NJ.

Urban Steez: How did you come up with your music name?

Safe2woSay: I'm not going to lie there was time in my life where I was afraid to speak on anything. One day I just got over that fear and I just felt that it's Safe2woSay what I want. It's okay to express your opinions, even if no one agrees with you. Everyone needs to be heard. Some people have thoughts that can benefit every one, but if they can not get them out then they become irrelevant.

Urban Steez: Nice. How long have you been doing music and what made you get into music?

Safe2woSay: I been writing poetry since I was about 12. Then when I was about 13 I wrote my first song and one of my friends Nate told me it was the best thing he ever heard. Now we both agree it sucked, but he had my back and pushed me to keep writing and never give up, so I haven't. Its been a while though and I really think I have grown to be a good artist . When ever I set a goal for my self I find a way to accomplish it . From starting a group and becoming respected by my peers in high school . To building my own in house studio, to finding the resources to making my music stand out and/or get noticed .

Urban Steez: How would you describe your style and why? And what do you feel you can bring to the table as an artist?

Safe2woSay: Since I produce, a lot of people tell me I remind them of Kanye West. I'm all over the place when it comes to style though. I like to switch it up .I guess its because some of the music now-a-days has an artist who just puts out the same song all the time . The chords don't change, the video is the same theme, and their words are bout the same subject .I like to make songs that people do not expect from me . What I can bring to table right now is good beats, different concepts, and the rest will progress.

Urban Steez: Yea, you’re a very talented dude. If you had to pick which label to be signed to what would it be and why?

Safe2woSay: Probably Universal , I feel like they take care of their artist more than a lot of labels do . Some artist that really have good careers are signed to them . I want to be on a label that understands my music will change and will not stay the same , so they will back me up no matter what happens . They put my priorities first , before what everyone else thinks is best .

Urban Steez: What’s the biggest challenge you feel you face as an artist?

Safe2woSay: To get people to listen to your music . To get people to take about 3 – 5 min out of their day just to click a button and give feedback . Especially when some other artist are coming up now-a-days . You have to explain why your special and why they should listen to your music and stay updated about what you drop and your career.

Urban Steez: I can see that given there is so much competition out there. Just stay persistent bruh!! Who would you want to collaborate with in the music industry and why?

Safe2woSay: A$AP Rocky , Kendrick Lamar , Drake , Kanye West , Common , 40 , and etc. its just so many people that I feel could push me to that next level and make me a better artist . A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar , because they both have promising futures and will gain recognition while they in the game for a while for how they make music and how organized as an artist that are . Drake And 40 , because they have this energy when they are in the studio , where they can use their moods to make great music . The type that can put you in that very position they were in . Kanye West and Common also because of their energy , I would like to see how Kanye works ,because it is said  to be different from the way everyone else works.

Urban Steez: Kendrick Lamar... I've been up on him since his K.Dot days… You have dope beats so I can see it happening for sure.  So how do you feel you rank against top music talents today? And why?

Safe2woSay: I never rank myself against anyone , because we are all different . Some people are doing this for reasons unknown and others know exactly what they want out of this. Of course , I have come across people where I thought I could have handled things better than they have ,but that's just a case of experience and knowing what to do at certain times.

Urban Steez: True. What are you working on now and when can fans expect to hear more from you?

Safe2woSay: I dropped Expectations in October but right now , I'm working with a producer on new material for my next mixtape . The title for right now is S2S . I never really know when I'm dropping tracks , it just depend on the mood I'm in . I usually let people know via twitter , so if you want to hear more just follow and keep an ear out. I'll try to drop a track a week before the mixtape drops . And if possible I could probably send some tracks here and they could check out the site to get my updates.

Urban Steez: Yea buddy!! If we feature you we support you. Give us a quote, the best represents what you are about?

Safe2woSay - Better Behave (Prod. Safe2woSay)

Urban Steez: Just like that! Who and what are your influences?

Safe2woSay: My life , my problems , and just about everything on tv . I'm influenced by everything I see , I do , and/or hear . Most of them are from my relationship though . I think those are the greatest influences because it incorporates everything from love to hate to anger to happiness . You could go from feeling like your are on top of the world because of how the person your with treats you and then feeling like you would never fall in love again.

Urban Steez: If music never existed what do you think you would be doing?

Safe2woSay: That's a tough one . I'd probably be a an actor , I've always like acting . I would be doing just about anything that would let me express myself creatively.

Urban Steez: What do you think of the hip hop/ music world right now?

Safe2woSay: Its going through so many changes . Its moving so rapidly . Everybody has their own story to tell and a new sound to introduce. Its Beautiful. The art that is taking place I couldn't be more proud of it . So many groups are emerging from different places and its interesting to see how people can be inspired by Nas “Illmatic” but create a sound that does not even sound close to that album . The way everyone interprets music is just awesome.

Urban Steez: I agree!! Its in a beautiful place right now. What music do you have playing in your sound system right now?

Safe2woSay: Everything, I like to listen to new artist music , so I listen to a lot of mixtapes. The very one I’m playing at this moment is probably A$AP Rocky though . That Mixtape was just tough, the concept and the beats .

Urban Steez: Who is your celebrity crush?

Safe2woSay: I dont really have a celebrity crush ,but I think Keke Palmer is beautiful.

Urban Steez: Yea she grew up to be something nice. How can business heads and fans contact you in the future (myspace, email, number, etc.)?

Safe2woSay: (973)609-0837 /  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. / @Safe2woSay on twitter

Urban Steez: Any shot outs?

Safe2woSay: Of course . I want to shoutout my girl Sophia , my boys Soundbox Banditz , and four.one.seven , Everybody who believes in me , my city, my cousin Lonnie, my manager/cousin Kelly Harper and my little sister for screaming my name when she sees me on stage .
