Sullee JUrban Steez: Tell everybody your name and what area you represent?

Suleman aka Sullee J and I rep. Baltimore, Hip Hop. People need to see we got real talent out here.

Urban Steez: I heard that! How did you come up with your music name?

Sullee: Sullee was a nickname growing up, but it also stands for Society’s Undisputed Liberated Lyricist Expressing & Exemplifying Justice.

Urban Steez: That’s deep !! So, How long have you been doing music and what made you get into music?

Sullee: I wrote poetry for a long time before I started music, it was a way of expressing thoughts or feelings, I felt others couldn’t understand, just myself. Eventually I started letting my poems out, and people said the stuff I had to say was important because it made a difference and it was brilliant, put it over a beat. I felt like music spread further, and it was easier through music for people to hear me, and relate as well. Music is almost like it’s own language, a neutral one, which everyone understands, because we listen to it, when we feel a certain way. It became not only a coping strategy but a motivation, or more so a purpose of mine.

Urban Steez: Music influences the world in so many ways!! How would you describe your style and why? And what do you feel you can bring to the table as an artist?

Sullee: My style is inspirational, positive, clean and for a cause. Everything I spit, is a message, what I have to say has some meaning behind it. It’s not always a track you just put on and repeat the same words over and over, it’s knowledge, it takes you somewhere. I feel like I can bring forth a new perspective to a whole generation. Bring a new outlook to music, and image. I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, and Im not into that whole scene where I got to have some sort of girl on my arm to make me look good. I look good by myself, and want to help the youth also realize, that music can be used as a voice. If we artists in the industry came together, and made one large movement to change what ever we wanted to, I believe we would have the voice to do so. People look up to artist a lot, especially the younger generation, and they would listen. I just feel like music has become more of a joke, mainstream wise. I hear a lot of people out there saying lyrical rappers get no where, well Im bound to prove that wrong. So are many others in the game I believe in, Mos Def, Lupe, Common, Talib, Immortal Technique, there is a lot!

Urban Steez: Music with substance is something that the music game needs more of… If you had to pick which label to be signed to what would it be and why?

Sullee: Honestly, there is a couple, Atlantic, Grand Hustle, Black Smith, or Geffen, they are doing it big. Black Smith because it has some of my favorite artist signed to them.

Urban Steez: Who would you want to collaborate with in the music industry and why?

Sullee: Honestly, any of the artist who inspire me most, one of them being DMX. His passion, is unmatched now days, and his lyrics, in a song like ‘Damien’ is beyond the mind. People don’t think on that level now days much, it’s just a whole other talent. That passion, I don’t feel it much on radio, or a lot of these albums that come out now days. I would like to collab with others to like jadakiss, lupe fiasco, gza, anyone who’s on the same conscious tip as me.

Urban Steez: So how do you feel you rank against top music talents today? And why?

Sullee: Honestly, I feel like I can make a huge difference, because Im different, how? Because I make differences. I don’t just sit here and talk all day, Im always out doing something, whether it helps one person or a 100. My purpose is to bring change through words, which create actions. I feel like all im missing is  a tour or being signed right now, and any label that is set for me, will be a gold mine once I get on it. I won’t compare myself to any artist, but I will definitely have my respect and place when my name is out.

Urban Steez: What are you working on now and when can fans expect to hear more from you?

Sullee: Right now Im currently working on my second album, I have some crazy tracks lined up, I will have a track with an artist from Ruff Ryders coming, along with a track with a member from the WU. Im always working on something like I said before, I try and release at least 1 track a week, right now Im also working on my third mix tape ‘R.A.P. – Rhythm, Architect & Pulse’. I just got back from Norway recently, I believe the next trip I take international, hopefully this summer, is to Haiti, I will let my fans know. I love all my fans!

Urban Steez: That’s Wassup! Where do you see yourself a year from now?

Sullee: Definitely Signed, and on top of the lists. I will break charts, I am as hungry as it gets. You can tell me to write an album a day, and I will sit in a boxed room and do it.

Urban Steez: Yea man lyrically you can tear threw some bars..Who and what are your influences?

Sullee: Like I said before you know, Lupe, DMX, Tupac, Mos Def, Common, Talib, Nas, anyone who’s talking about the truth, real knowledge, things of matter.

Urban Steez: What do you think of the hip hop/ music world right now?

Sullee: Ah man, don’t make me answer it, I can’t say it’s not coming back, because it is, how? Because Im still doing it, and there many artist like me im sure out there who are doing it. Ill say it like this, Im not happy with it, but im not hopeless either. I got hope for the future of hip hop.

Urban Steez:  Hip Hop is one music genre that has many ranges and stories, hip hop will constantly evolve… What music do you have playing in your sound system right now?

Sullee: Frontlines by Diabolic & Technique

Urban Steez: Who is your celebrity crush?

Sullee: Jessica Alba

Urban Steez: Isnt she a bute... How can business heads and fans contact you in the future (myspace, email, number, etc.)?

Urban Steez: Any shot outs?

Sullee: So many people support me you know, but I will write a few names: First of all Sana B. and Mario K., two people who been there since the first step. My main producers I work with, very humble and talented, Cee The Architek, Jinx Beatz, Amar Azaan. There are so many magazines/blogs supporting me, like Evident Truth, Asiance Magazine, S.P.I.T. Global, HipHop4Real, Thaakat, Parle Newspaper. Special shot out to DJ UNICA...  To many to name, but I love all of you supporting me, and couldn’t do it without your back.
