Brittani Williams was born and raised in Philadelphia,
PA, where she currently resides with her
four year old son. Writing wasn't always something that Brittani wanted to do
but when a seventh grade teacher gave out a writing assignment it showed her
how creative she really was. After years of writing short stories and plays
alike she decided to give writing a novel a try. The novel wasn't very long and
after many life changes Brittani put writing aside.
Soon her creative juices were sparked again and she decided to take a stab
at it once more. After giving it to her friends and co-workers to read she
finally got the push that she needed. Sending it first to Q-Boro books, they
quickly responded and offered her a two book deal for "Daddy's Little
Girl" her best-selling debut and "Sugar Walls" her scantly
titled sophomore novel.
Since then, Brittani has participated in two anthologies: Fantasy by
K.Elliott (Urban Lifestyle Press) and Flexin' & Sexin' (Life Changing
Books).
She recently signed another two book contract for her 3rd and 4th novels,
one of which will be released winter 2008 and also a collaboration due out in
stores June 2008 with Essence Magazine Best-selling Author Anna J (My Woman,
His Wife) and Laurinda Brown (Walk Like A Man).
Brittani graciously thanks Mark Anthony and the entire Q-Boro books staff
for giving her the opportunity to shine. K. Elliott & Azarel for the
anthology opportunities. She also thanks her Publicist Nakea Murray for all of
the doors that she's opened for her as well.
Stay Tuned for Brittani...There's a lot more where these came from!

Urbansteez.com Interview with Brittani Williams
Urbansteez.com: Tell us your name, and what area do you
represent?
Brittani Williams: Hello UrbanSteez.com,
my Name is Brittani Williams and I am a native of Philadelphia Pennsylvania where I currently
still Reside.
Urbansteez.com: How long have you been pursuing a career in
writing?
Brittani Williams: Actually, I began
writing when I was about twelve years old. I didn't pursue it as a career until
2005. So many people told me, "You should try to get it published." Eventually
I listened and that was one of the best decisions I could have made for my
self.
Urbansteez.com: What were you into before writing books?
Brittani Williams: Before writing, I was
into fashion designing. I took it up as a trade in my vocational high school
and I later went to an Art Institute for one year. I love fashion and I love
designing so even though I am not currently working in that field, I definitely
plan to pick up where I left off in the future.
Urbansteez.com: What Made you say, "you know what, I'm
going to write 300 pages and make a book?"
Brittani Williams: After the first story
I wrote for a school assignment, I continued to write. None of the stories were
ever long enough to be a book but they kept me busy. I had tons of composition
books filled with stories. I even went so far as to enlist fellow classmates
that could draw well to illustrate scenes from the stories. Once I was a little
older and in college, I decided to take a stab at making it a novel's length,
unfortunately it still wasn't long enough. I let all of my co-workers read it
and they all encouraged me. Eventually I took it serious and saw the potential
in a career. I buckled down and the result was a novel called Automatic
Princess, which has since been changed to Daddy's Little Girl.
Urbansteez.com: As a writer how would you describe your style
and why?
Brittani Williams: I would call my style
universal and the reason I say that it because I write so many different
things. Though my current releases are urban street in content I don't just
write hood books. I have written erotica in the contemporary form and street
form. I have also written a few novels that are unpublished at the time that
are contemporary without any street content. I have also written Teenage
fiction and I am actively trying to get those published as we speak. Also
I write with a message, every novel of mine has a message which is usually
found within the first few pages of the books. There aren't many authors out
here that can write all of these styles successfully.
Urbansteez.com: I noticed you have a few books out, can you
tell us about a few?
Brittani Williams: Yes I do, Daddy's
Little Girl is my first novel about a girl named Giselle who had it
all. Her father was a drug lord and she admired him. So much so that the man
she fell in love with and eventually married was her father's partner.
Unfortunately, he had plans to take over her father's empire and uses her to
obtain that goal. It proves why being the heiress to a drug empire doesn't guarantee
the life of a princess. Sugar Walls, my latest release, is about
a female named Sugar who is the product of drug addicted and abusive parents.
Her goals of going to college are shattered when she meets an escort service
owner named Dyna and gets a taste of the good life. Eventually, she branches
off to open her own strip club, Sugar Walls, and her former mentor quickly
becomes her deadliest enemy. It proves how a few seconds of pleasure can lead
to a lifetime of pain. Last, my upcoming release which will be in stores June
2008 is called The Cathouse. I actually co-wrote it with two
other authors Anna J and Laurinda D Brown. The cathouse is about an illegal
brothel in DC owned by a guy name Earl Dixon. My Character, Kimona, is the top
vixen at the brothel called Allure. There is so much scandal in the novel
including senators and even the mayor. The women of the cathouse are all
fighting to run the house but only one will come out on top. Besides these, I
participated in two anthologies Fantasy and Flexin & Sexin: Sexy Street
Tales Vol. 1. Later this year my Fourth novel Black Diamond, will
be released
Urbansteez.com: Wow, DRAMA !!! I luv it!!! Now the Flexin
& Sexin...Sounds INTENSE, I'm not sure if I can go there, lol!! So what
motivates you to write, or what is your motivation?
Brittani Williams: My one true
motivation is my five year old son. I work so hard for him and it is all paying
off.
Urbansteez.com: That's wassup! What are you working on now,
and when can we expect to see more of you?
Brittani Williams: Right now I am doing
so much, I am working on the sequel to Black Diamond. I am also working on
starting my own publishing company and film production company. I am going to
be co-hosting an internet talk show called He Said, She Said which is a battle
of the sexes. It will air on blogtalkraido.com
very soon. I am also running an exciting contest through MYSPACE called THE
BIGGEST FAN CONTEST. It's sort of like a scavenger hunt to see who my biggest
fan is. It runs for four weeks and the first and second place winners will have
the option to participate in an anthology that I will release under my
publishing company next year. Last, I am planning to start a scholarship for
creative writing for high school seniors at the high school that I graduated
from.
Urbansteez.com: Who are your influences?
Brittani Williams: God because I know
that with him anything is possible. My Mom because she is a superwoman and one
of the most courageous people I know. Last, the Author Miasha because she gives
me a lot of hope and by watching her it pushes me to do more.
Urbansteez.com: What advice would give someone trying to
pursue the same career?
Brittani Williams: Know your craft and
do your homework. Learn the business as much as possible before you get in it.
Don't ever give up if it is your dream and stay humble─don't ever get too big
for yourself.
Urbansteez.com: Good Advice!!How is business anyway, I don't
mean to be nosey but How you living these days???
Brittani Williams: Business is wonderful
but I definitely want it to get better. I am a hard worker so things can only
go up from here, I strongly believe in that.
