Clinton Davis Jr., Born and raised in Austin Texas (2-1)I spent the first seven years of my early childhood in Queens New York in Bland Projects. My father moved me back to Texas around eight years old and from then on I made occasional summer visits. I didnt see my father much growing up. working long nights as a Port Authority officer at the World Trade Center kept him away. On his days off I spent time with him doing what he loved most, making music. For years he worked hard for the family, so he wasn't able to pursue music like he wished. The fact that he couldn't, inspired me to fulfill out that goal since the age of 12. From then on I watched my father closely. I learned how to work equipment and started writing songs and poetry just like him.I told my father my plan was to pursue music as a career, and go to college to learn more about business that I didnt learn from reading. Originally my plan was this: once I graduated from college, he would be near retirement and we could start a music company together. Things were going according to plan until after my graduation in May 2001...September 11, 2001 my father tended to saving lives while at work due to terrorist attacks, suddenly my life changed. After days of searching for survivors in the 9-11-01 attack my father was announced deceased in one of the towers while escorting civilians. The pain and rage I felt at that moment was beyond belief of an explanation. So at that point i was like "what now?" I was nearly going to give up on all my dreams and goals, and forget about what my father worked so hard for. I had to become something in life and provide for my family in the future the same way he did for me. Standing around depressed wasn't going to help me succeed at all. With the support and encouragement of my mother I continued with the plan I set.2002 I started my own label, signed my artists, got a production team together, constructed a well-designed studio and a staff, and enrolled into Texas State University. My plan to continue the "dream" then began. The loss of my father is my determination to show this nation I have what it takes to make this label one of the best constructed in history. My label consists of artists with versatility, creativity, and a work ethic like no other. Im carrying out a promise and fulfilling a dream. Already releasing a major album in 2006 with IMPAC'S - ALMOST FAMOUS, 2008 major labels will realize I mean business and failure is not an option. I call myself Checkmate because to me this career is just like chess. It takes timing and strategy to take over the board then the game is yours. 2008 Above All Entertainment "The New Era of the South" - Checkmate

Music is life. Music is love.
Music is you. Music is me. Music is us. To make people truly understand
music is difficult because they don't realize the role that music
plays in their everyday lives. You hear it on the radio, in elevators,
on television, in hospitals, in schools, at funerals, everywhere. It
is the most powerful form of communication. People literally can't
get enough of it. This is why Kumi Hues is necessary. Kumi Hues is music.
Kumi Hues is life. Kumi Hues is love.
But who is Kumi Hues? Perhaps
where is Kumi Hues is a better question. Starting their intergalactic
journey in the small town of Tallahassee, Florida, iLL-FLaVa and M.E.R.C.
found that they have a chemistry that will catapult them into your living
rooms. Their sound is vintage yet new, hard yet smooth, and bitter yet
sweet. They seem to explore the universe of sound, conquering the cosmos
in their dream machine fueled by inspiration. Their unique delivery
of chords and phrases captures time and space. Kumi Hues is the future
and they are in a world of their own.
iLL-FLaVa, aka Brandon Crumbly,
was born in the city of Toledo, Ohio, the home of such musicians as
Art Tatum and R & B crooner Lyfe Jennings. iLL's fascination with
the sound came at an early age. But it wasn't until moving to Atlanta,
Georgia that this son of a high school theory teacher found passion
in bringing imagination to his music. If you could see into his mind
you would see a world decorated with an array of vibrant colors and
you would hear a futuristic, bass heavy beat pulsating throughout his
thoughts. Drawing inspiration from hip-hop, jazz, new wave, and genres,
iLL-FLaVa is ready to leave his mark on the music industry; and re-introduce
creativity to a genre fixated on catchy tunes.
After high school, iLL-FLaVa
moved to the sunny city of Tallahassee, FL where he met M.E.R.C. The
two became immediate friends, and had a powerful musical chemistry they
couldn't ignore. The two soon formed Kumi Hues, where iLL-FLaVa capitalizes
on his beat-making prowess to help deliver the group's debut album,
"The Take Off 747-365." Armed with skillfully creative drum patterns
and an infectious style of chord changes, iLL-FLaVa proves to be a musical
reckoning force.
M.E.R.C. aka Jason Hall was
born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida, a city that produced other
musical talents such as T-Pain and Sticman of Dead Prez. He remembers
always wanting to be creative and free spirited. "Music was always
something that I loved. I remember riding in the car with my pops trying
to guess the instruments on his jazz tapes. I didn't really listen
to hip-hop that much because my parents didn't. It wasn't until
about the eighth grade when I started to get into it. Even then I still
would rather hear Satchmo on a 45" than anything on the top ten,"
states M.E.R.C. Growing up in the south even in the 80's and 90's
still had its affect on Black Americans and M.E.R.C. expresses those
struggles frequently in his music. He is often compared to Common or
Mos Def but with southern hospitality. He seems to somewhat squeeze
his political view in between his metaphors to make sure that nothing
is overstated. His words dance romantically with bass lines and his
laid-back persona clashes with his revolutionary ideology.
Not since Gnarls Barkley has
colorful imagery, alluring lyricism and storytelling been fused so perfectly.
M.E.R.C. lives up to his name and slaughters hip hop standards with
his insightful and honest lyrics, while iLL-FLaVa keeps listeners amazed
with his range and creativity as a producer.

Growing up, hip hop was always around. Everyone in
his family loved it. At the age of 13, he began to play with it, he
started to rap for fun. He didn't think anything of it, other than
something to do. His cousin was involved in Low Life Ent. and he wanted
to test his skills. He rapped for him, but his cousin didn't think he
was good enough for his record label. He took that personal and didn't
believe he wasn't good; so he kept at it and practiced. Still, he
wasn't good enough for Low Life Ent. This put him in an aggravated
state; he believed he was good, but someone else didn't, so he set out
to prove them wrong. He started Hillside Hustla Ent. At the beginning,
he couldn't afford to put cd's out like his cousin or advertise. He was
determined to put his record label at the top, by all means. As a full
time involvement in Hillside, his part time job helped pay for all the
equipment they needed, a good software program to record, professional
microphones, and a reliable computer to put it all together.
At the age
of twenty, he created his own studio. Unlike most upcoming artist, this
studio is in the grasp of his hands, located in his own home.
Constantly rapping and writing, $DYNO$ had perfected his style and
have made many songs. He draws inspiration from none other than,
himself. He feels he is his own critique. He doesn't look up to anyone
because he feels he is his own. Everyone is different and he does what
he feel sounds good. As upcoming West Coast rapper draws inspiration
from stars like Snoop or Game, he knows that putting out the raw
material and hot tracks will get him to the top. That is how you are
respected in this industry. Shortly after releasing their first
mixtape, "No Taxs," there were many negative feedback. Critics bashed
their abilities to rap and record. They pointed out that the team
needed to take breathing classes, a better producer and needed
ghostwriters. This helped the team and $DYNO$ to work even harder on
their next mixtape. "American Mafia" mixtape had the audience awed and
amazed. Everyone loved it, all feedback coming through the lines were
nothing but positive. As the president, $DYNO$ released this mixtape
with the mindset of just giving them out, but everyone he handed it to
were willing to pay. Already knowing the contents through their
myspaces and website, everyone was rapping along to this mixtape.
Transforming Hillside Hustla Ent. from just a record label to a whole empire, was possible by collaborating with 2nd
Hustle Clothing and Ashberry Clothing. Together, they will build an
empire to stand strong and overcome any obstacle that comes their way.
All this made possible by a young man who had big dreams, great
determination, and the ability to compromise; $DYNO$.

With
hunger, rawness and artistic diversity, Dinero is raising the bar for
all up-and-coming artists while swiftly challenging established
veterans. He hails straight from the city of Chicago which has given
hip-hop some of the greatest and most talented lyricists of our time -
and Dinero is no exception.. Through the debut of his album, The
Lifestyle of a Hustler (Military Minded Ent.), Dinero confidently rocks
over the 24-track compilation filled with mid-west swagger, east coast
lyricism, and telltales of a skillful and talented man who combines his
experience in the military and the streets to paint a picture of
reality and struggle over potent - and even commercially-ready beats.
Not only a showcase for the media, the labels and A&Rs, the album
is also set out to illustrate to hip-hop fans, how capable and how
necessary Dinero is to the game.
As a way to vent, he first began to rap while serving in
Afghanistan. A defining point in this young man's life, Dinero's choice
to join the military at 17 years of age was an escape he was looking
for from the destructive surroundings of Chicago's most notorious
projects, the Stateway Gardens. The similarity between the military and
the streets of Chicago was one of many life's lessons Dinero learned
early on, and felt the urge to pass on. "The military taught me that no
matter where you go and who you are, everything's a hustle. The
corruption and overall lack of integrity in the military opens your
eyes to a world that most don't want to believe; that most disguise as
normal."
And although he grew up around dealers, boosters, hustlers and
gangsters, Dinero kept up his grades and was able to steer away from
the negativity of the streets all the while keeping his ears and eyes
open. Without anything resembling a hand-out - or even a male role
model - Dinero decided from an early age to pave his own way and take
charge of his life. Forming the label Military Minded Entertainment, he
set out to apply the lessons of the streets and the military, to rap.
"It reflects a state of mind; you have to have loyalty, you have to
have honor, you have to be able to stand tall, be on your Ps and Qs and
just overall ready for anything. It reflects every hood, every hustler,
every real soldier; everybody that can get up in the morning when all
odds are against them and survive."
Dinero's strut is a reflection of where he is from and it's
something that Chicagoans will pick up on almost immediately. "When you
envision Chicago projects, streets, alleys, ball courts, etc., you see
that most cats look like me. I am the image, the face of most hood
cats." Dinero utilizes that image, and transfers it onto his music,
creating addictive joints that reflect his swagger, his mindset and
everyday lifestyle. "I make music for people like myself. Something I
can throw in my ride and bump, something I can listen to when I'm
grinding, working out, in the barbershop, etc." Perhaps most important
of it all, he caters to the diversity; a balance in hip-hop which has
been lost between the gauge of the mainstream and 'conscious'. "There's
a lot of cats that rap for female audiences, club atmospheres,
conscious rap, real rap, stunners, up-lifters, etc. There's metaphoric
lyricists, straight to the point lyricists 'ya hook got you there'
lyricists, one hit wonders, longevity rappers, etc. I think I fit in
great with all of them - I can give you a catchy hook with hot lyrics,
great swagger, crazy beat and a universal feel. And I do that while
delivering soulful, straight from the heart words that people can
relate to." The Lifestyle of a Hustler, is genuine proof to Dinero's
ambitious claims.

When pressure and force is applied, the hidden essence behind the motive is
revealed. However, for the German born and Austin,
Texas raised rapper named Da New Kid, it
wasn't until his uncle forced him to bust a freestyle that his intellectual
energy kicked in, preparing him for a burgeoning rap career.
"My Uncle had me start freestyling when I was eight years old. I didn't
really wanted to do it at first but I started getting good at it," he recalls.
"My other uncle was into music production and he bought me my first guitar and
programs to make beats," he explains.
Adhering to his influential uncles' advice was a good thing for the
lyrically ferocious rapper who diligently honed his craft by competing in local
showcases. In 2006, he took home the championship at the Powers of Music
Showcase & Seminar in Austin -
a conference that brings out the who's who in music. Da New Kid is far from a
rookie when it comes to performing. He's hit the stage with Yung Joc, Paul
Wall, Lil Flip, Trae, Z-Ro, Chingo Bling, Tum Tum, Kiotti and several
others.
Possessing a unique sound - often referred to as "backpack gangsta", the
keen lyrics of Kanye West and top-notch production of beatsmith Dr.Dre
influenced Da New Kid's style to a great extent. Taking a page from both his
influencers he is considered a double threat as an artist who also produces his
own music. With songs like "School Spirit" and "It's Gonna Be Live", Da New Kid
quickly rose to most requested status, in both the Texas
college market and Miami club
circuit. Fans found his high-spirited hooks, true-to life lyrics and ability to
capture their Texas essence a
reason to want more. The considerable buzz behind his last mixtape It's
About Time not only thrust his name more into the open, but compelled calls
from A&R's at Atlantic Records, Interscope and Universal Records. It's
About Time moved a couple of thousand units, making Da New Kid a topic of
conversation amongst area DJs.
After forming a potent alliance with DJ Hella Yella, Da New Kid was able to
increase his mixtape assets triple fold. With features on all of Hella Yella's
projects, including College Takeover and Fresh on Campus, Da New
Kid's stout production coupled with his spit game proved he is light years
ahead of the competition. His willingness to build relationships and deliver
stand out material also caught the attention of DJ Blurray who spotlighted the
young rapper's talent on his Get Big project.
A relentless grind consists of hard work and strong determination and no one
knows that better than Da New Kid. If he is not making pivotal business moves
on MySpace, networking with other DJs, or tearing down the college scene, he is
most likely in the streets promoting the "I Heart Da New Kid" campaign,
which entails girls holding up his sign and taking pictures. Tastemakers like
Saul Williams and TJ Chapman have recognized Da New Kid's "impressive
freestyle" and noted him as being "one to look out for".
While most would be satisfied and eager for a major
label endorsement, Da New Kid gears up to serve an appetizer to already hungry
streets with the release of Gimme My Credit and Broadcasting Live
From The Hood. The DJ LL assisted mixtape is just a small

plans to bless hip hop by spreading his word! Meezy started flirtin w/ Hip Hop
as a youngster while in school and it eventually grew into a deep passion! Meezy
credits his earliest real artist influence to the late Tupac Shakur. It was
music like that, which 1st inspired Meezy to stand up for his beliefs, and
express his voice! Understanding he got a story jus' like the rest of the
Universe and it's my time to step up and tell it to the world!" Meezy is here
today to tell a story that has been in the makin for 27 years...and God
willing, in the notebooks for the next 27 if he has any say so bout it! Knowing,
we all got pain, we all got issues...Meezy is jus tryna make sure, his issues

After coming up from age 6 and beyond, with the
murder/death of his mother in the projects where he still feels a deep part of,
then the loss of his father to the prison system less than 3 months later after
he committed a double homicide and another attempted homicide, Meezy was
forced to find an alternative to expressing his hurt and stress that he
was overwhelmed with! That was where poetry and Hip Hop came into play
for him. "I finally released my first anger issues and problems through a
pen n' pad! Not only was I good at it cause I was a good poetry prospect as a
kid, but I was also learning and realizing the growth in which makes me the man
I am today!"
As of right now, besides making multiple appearances on other artists

Major League! Also, on April 1st, Meezy was featured on Ciphernews.com radio/magazine
where people could vote for his song "Take It" and give him a chance
to win an award @ the 1st Annual Up North and MidWest Hip Hop awards. Meezy
ended up winning by a landslide! Afterwards he was asked to come back for the
following issue for an interview and to get radio spin and feedback on his
"Since Then" track. Since the interview, he has been informed that
he's up for 2 awards for both his songs, including Most Introspective Song of
the Year and Sexiest Song of the Year! I hope everyone takes time out to check
out Meezy's work n' listen to his story, then give him sum feedback!

Kamèl (pronounced - Kah • mel)
If you haven't heard of her yet, guarantee it is only a
matter of time before you will. Kamèl is a self motivated ball of fire that has
everyone talking. She has gained great respect for her hard work and
dedication day in and day out, both here in the States and overseas.
Based out of Ohio, this sensuous
songbird has a soothing sound with an undeniably beautiful look, but do not be
fooled, this diva has major energy, attitude and spice to deliver a slammin'
performance. Driven by passion and blessed with incredible musical ability,
this multi-talented beauty is determined to make her mark in the industry; as
she not only sings, but also writes and arranges all of her songs, acts &
models. Her creativity constantly amazes the producers she works with, as she
naturally becomes one with the music and scripts. They quote, "She is
definitely slick with it and extremely easy to work with." Sure she can
speak of how the talent of Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, Marvin Gaye, Luther
Vandross and many more, have had influence on her career; as they have, but her
greatest inspiration comes from her own mother and father. Her mother danced
and shared the stage with icons such as: The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Dionne
Warwick and even performed in front of Dick Clark; while her father was locally
known for leading a Rock band that performed sensational live shows. So you
guessed it, she too fell in love with music and entertainment. Has it always
peaches and cream, happy go lucky for this rising star? Absolutely not, but it
was the times of having only beans & rice and community cheese to eat
growing up day after day, being in a controlled, mentally abusive relationship,
and the emotional ups and downs of life that fuel her energy and strength
today. Initially, Kamèl was working with other artist creating hooks, singing
background vocals, and arranging melodies for their recordings; then as she
owned her craft, she felt it was time to begin a solo career. Since then, she
became a member of BMI; produced an independent album; began performing at
local clubs, special events, concert venues, and musical conferences amongst
artist such as: Michelle Williams, Trinity 5:7, Mr.
Del, and more. Kamèl has also been noticed
for her leading role in a stage play entitled, "She's got the stuff". It would
make you laugh till you cried! Since then, she was recruited as the lead
vocalist for a live band that rocked Columbus
and the surrounding areas, but her destiny continued to knock. Gaining
much attention all over the world for her original material, she knew she had
to continue her solo journey and give her fans what they truly wanted to hear;
and that is words from her heart. "Kamèl has such a swagger about her," fans
quote. "She is extremely marketable and we truly believe it is only a matter of
time before the world takes notice. Soon we look up and see her on TV and
hear her on all the radios. Trust, it's only a matter of time". One of her
greatest qualities that we all have grown to love is her heart. She is such a
sweet and energetic person that everyone tends to gravitate towards her; people
simply love being around Kamèl. She is also admired for ability to transform.
At times she keeps it soft, grown and sexy to compliment her smooth vocals; but
other times she rocks the crowd with a blazin' beat, high energy and even
throws in a hot rap every now and then. Although she is her own person,
look-wise, many tend to say she draws comparison to that of Kelly Rowland.
Bottom-line, she definitely has the magic and is mainstream, radio ready. Pop,
R&B, Hip-Hop; what more can you ask for? Now if you were to ask Kamèl
what artist she truly respects and admires (outside of Alicia Keys), she will
tell you Missy Elliott; reason being, she absolutely loves her creativity,
multi-talent and abilities. She quotes, "Missy Elliott is not like every
other artist out there, she always stands out because she remains unique and
true to herself. Her videos you will not forget, her performances you will not
forget; and that same quality I want to always possess." Kamèl is loved and
admired by many all over the world for her unforgettable face, sweet spirit,
remarkable talent, and is positively believed to be the new face/voice of Pop,
Hip-Hop & R&B. Her hope and prayer now is that the industry
finally sees, acknowledges, and embraces her abilities, and welcomes her
aboard. After all, she is TOMORROW!

Creative, Innovator, Entrepreneur, and
MC are just a few words to describe Sem-One. Having spent the past 6
years developing a sound and product he would be proud of releasing,
the time has come to release what has become the first iTape,
"One Foot In The Game/ One Foot In The Grave." Evolving
with today's market, Sem-One brings you the future through his innovative
lyrics, music, and campaign. Sem-One
is releasing the first i-Tape, a multi media album that
includes the full length LP, photo gallery, album art work, HTML codes,
and music video for "Elevator Musick." Revolutionizing
the game the i-Tape is more than a multimedia album on a USB flash,
it's your medi-sem for hip hop. Creatively designed
in a pill shaped USB flash and packaged in a medicine vial, you can
get your medi-sem for hip hop, THE iTAPE.
In an age where new music is out everyday
because of an overload of opportunities online, Sem-One wants to make
sure he is contributing to Hip-Hop. Breaking the mold is just one way
to describe Sem-One, his "fuck you" attitude may catch your
attention but it's his message that will push him ahead of other MCs
in the scene. Sem-One is that special artist that will make you think
beyond the bling and stag music we have become accustom
to and learned to like. Sem-One has a clear goal, to entertain and not
cheat his audience. Everything Sem-One releases has plan and a clear
message, orchestrated like a movie or composing a song. In an age where
the beat makes the music Sem-One is using his words as an instrument
in composing each song he does.
Ten years ago Sem-One was coming up through
the fundamentals of hip hop and started doing graffiti, his tag name
was SEM =Sun,
Earth, and Moon. ONE
soon followed when he developed into an artist. Growing up in Brooklyn
Hip Hop was his culture and he soon realized he had a way of expressing
himself. He began battling kids in the neighborhood and realized it
was more than winning a battle. He began writing about his surrounding
and having grown up in the projects across the street from the park
where he was exposed to gang activity, drugs, and bad influences, he
wrote about what he knew best. He had his first blunt at the age of
12 opening an array of ideas and a new writing style. He was a shy kid
and suddenly became more open, he started writing for other MCs. Sem-One
remembers listening to Wu-Tang and falling in love with hip hop but
never considered himself to be the performer, he was content with writing
for others. Soon enough he caught the bug of being an MC and performing,
he rapidly developed a style of rhyming fast to impress people. As he
developed as a lyricist he decided he would slow down and learn to control
his lyrics, delivery, and style.
As an MC who was starting off Sem-One
would write and write, he would make songs with no order, no hook, and
the goal was to rhyme. Once he got the hang of writing he realized he
can do this and began to compose songs. Sem-One did not have good production
or hot beats and decided the only way to shine was to make the
words more powerful than the beat. The lyrics became the main instrument
in Sem-One's songs. Sem-One feels his school for music was having
"ok" beats he can make hot, he believes anyone can rock a
hot beat. In addition to that he also had another unusual way to create
music, he uses the method of movie making to create songs, and being
a big movie fan it's only natural to him. Sem-One has developed the
art of story telling he sees his music as a message that should be delivered
in an entertaining style. His words are not literal, if you listen to
his songs, he builds a plot, characters, voices, themes, and a message.
From then on he decided not only to be different but consistent. Sem-One
believes his only competition is his last rhyme and how he can continue
to evolve.
He wants you to remember what he said,
how he said it, even if you don't like it, you will remember. As long
as he feels comfortable with his work, and it's not about having "one"
hit, it's about finding the 2nd, and 3rd hit,
Sem-One will continue to make music. Sem-One wants to be recognized
as a musician who plays "Words" just as a musician would be recognized
for playing the piano. He doesn't believe that selling 10 million
copies of song that is consider being a jingle should notarize you as
a musician.
"I am here to stay, hate me, love me,
but you will remember me, and I'll say the craziest shit that will
get you to think" Says Sem-One. His first reaction is the right one
and he will say and write about what he thinks should be said no matter
who it pisses off. His message, creative methods of word play, and art
are all God sent and there is no other way to explain it.

Many say that the true feeling of expression is
being sacrificed for the almighty dollar. That the music that once dwelled only
in the streets of New York is now battling itself to keep its true identity
while it grows. Though hip -
hop music is highly saturated with artist of different backgrounds, sounds, and
hometowns, many still believe that the creativity factor that once made hip-
hop such an innovative sound has been lost to the overwhelming demand for
"commercial songs".
As the battle ensues, along comes Washington DC born Nicholas Baker (formerly known as Nick L Bagg) who before
anything else is a lover of all music. He believes hip-hop has no boundaries
and should be pushed as far as she can go. Being a hip hop artist as well as a
producer he feels he can impact the music industry with heart felt lyrics and
soulful music.
Baker's music can be best described as
versatile. By blending and experimenting with all types of sounds, he tries to
find new and innovative ways to take the music to another level. He prides
himself on being a "True MC", who can attack any type of music with a various
amount of different flow styles. Whether through his lyrics or through his
music, Baker's goal is to make people aware and change lives. Touching a wide
variety of topics with his sound, he strives to inform, help, and comfort
others.
Born Devin Gross, the child of a
single parent home (mother), Nicholas was introduced to music at an early age.
His grandfather sang in the church choir and his uncle always listened to the
latest music on the airwaves. Not knowing the impact these listening sessions
would have on his future taste, he always just enjoyed the music for what it
was; Classic. In fourth grade Nicholas began lessons on the trumpet. He played
instruments all the way through grade school but it wasn't he went to Fairmont
Height's high school, in Landover, MD, that his true love for music began to
form. His Music teacher, Mary Cole, helped him realize that music was not just
a hobby but that it was a passion and it was what he wanted to do for the rest
of his life. Growing up around violence, drugs, and crime did not always make
it easy to stick to his plans but he knew there was a destiny for him to fill.
He went on to attend Hampton University where he studied Music Engineering. Determined to
