Unsigned Hype Kenlo Key
What's so special about this kid, Kenlo Key? His story starts back in the 1950's when his grandmother was a local star singing the blues in night clubs. That musical drive was then passed on to his mother who became an even bigger r+b star, signing a deal at the age of 17, and becoming a featured artist on shows like Soul Train as well as opening up for some of the greats of that time. So decades later, it is no surprise that Kenlo Key would walk in the same footsteps and soon become an even greater force in the music biz.

At the age of 22, Kenlo Key has done a lot and seen even more. Growing up in a household with a warm hearted, caring mother and a physically and verbally abusive alcoholic father, it is obvious why he is such a versatile person. Around the age of 11 or 12 Kenlo Key would bury himself in writing.Kenlo Key says his music was his escape from the havoc that was within his household. He recalls times when his father was in and out of jail that the music would fill in for his fathers absence. He crafted his writing skills to the point that he not only wrote hip hop music but also R+B, expanding his arsenal of talent beyond the average rapper. This became evident when he unquestionably won a contest for penning the lyrics to a jingle for the popular Chicago Moo and Oink grocery store chain, receiving $1250.00 for a 90 second song.

Kenlo Key says he started to take music seriously in Highschool, when he formed a group with another hungry mc by the name of D.P. whom he met through a mutual friend. They became a force to reckon with even more when they formed a supergroup by the name of Da Z-Gang with two other talented emcees Da K.I.D. and T.Willow. They became well known locally, did shows opening up for big names, such as T.I., Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, Shawnna, and Bump J as well as traveled a bit performing in the college circuit. Six managers and over ten possible record deals later, they decided the best decision would be to pursue their solo careers. Although, they still record together and share a brotherly bond.

Kenlo Keys name was derived from his laid back, quiet, sometimes mysterious demeanor. He claims his personality is like so because he's been through so much that little things dont spark emotion in him. Growing up he learned to channel his anger and feelings toward his father through his music. This is what most likely got Kenlo Key a name for his self in his neighborhood where he became known as the best battle emcee in that area. Rapper after rapper would step up and get embarrassed. In 2005 his battling skills got him recognition from fellow Chicago artists Shawnna, Rhymefest, Mikkey, and Lupe Fiasco when he went on to become a Finalist in the 2005 MGD Power 92.3 Emcee Battle. In the same year he was also a semi finalist in the popular Chicago Idol contest given by WGCI radio station and he released his first solo demo, Like It or Luv It. After this his buzz was even bigger than it was as in comparison to when he was a group act, leading to offers from people like Shawnna of DTP and also NFL superstar Danny Clark. Although still unsigned Kenlo Key's future is looking bright. Look out for this cat... with the stamp of approval from Shawnna ("This kid is a problem!") this emcee is not to be taken lightly....

Anticipating his time to shine, Kenlo Key promises he wont be unsigned for long. You might want to keep an eye on this guy.

Martinus Hutcherson began rapping at age 12, when most boys are playing touch football and basketball, Martinus was writing songs. With a penchant for R&B, Martinus quickly found that he couldn't sing. Experiencing the now classic albums of Jay-z, NAS, Snoop Dogg, Outkast, Common, The Roots, etc would turn the young crooning Martinus to the rapping, J. Clear.

Choosing his name because, the twenty-something Taurean describes himself as a versatile lyricist who can touch on numerous topics while maintaining his own identity. On his Debut album with New Bridge Records, LLC. A Man Apart, J. Clear touches on numerous subjects on the 13-track disc.

"(The album) is like a real person. Not happy all the time, not sad all the time. I wanted to show a variety of emotions."

A Man Apart is an album that never loses its pace. Songs like "Who U Ridin Wit" and "Let 'Em Know" are defensive to critics and detractors, while "U got it" is a popular party song. The debut single "Show you off" is a two-step song that encourages men to appreciate there woman and "Show them off". "Show you off" along with "Still Cool, Calm Collective also features Mike Winans Jr from the legendary gospel family.

"A lot of rap artists are killing people on 15 tracks of their album, and on the 16th track, they want to love God. No man hates women all the time. Real people have real different emotions."

So does A Man Apart, an artistic album with innovative production and features from some of Detroit's best artists, a list to which J. Clear can add his name. As an artist who tries to see the good in every situation, J. Clear sees only good coming his way.

"I used to want to be the greatest rapper. I don't want that anymore. I want to be a good businessman in this industry who also makes good music. The future? It looks bright."

JClear is truly the first of his breed; there hasn't been a rapper with the attributes that JClear possess. Lyrically versatile enough to scratch the temples of any faithful backpack sportin' hip hop purist than flip it, and supply the commercial feens with something catchy & clever. JClear can suave it up for the ladies, (as we all know) and keep it street with the best of 'em, plus, with all that going for him, he's not bad to look at. To sum it up, JClear is one of the most well rounded artist to ever hit the scene. The bravery to drop an album, totally opposite of what's Hot right now, J is the quencher for those thirsty for something new & quality.

With such artists as Ginuwine, Tank, Mya, Amerie, and now J. Holliday and Raugheem Devaughn; the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area has somewhat tarnished the image that D.C. will never develop quality mainstream talent, but even though hip-hop artists are plentiful, few such as Nonchalant, Questionmark Asylum, and now Wahle; have truly scratched the surface of good fortune, breached the threshold of the mainstream market, and received due respect for themselves and their hometown. Donnie Brasco, a.k.a. “DB:Z”, hopes to be the next to bring the eyes and ears of the world to the DMV corridor.

Donnie Brasco (born Donavin Campbell), a Prince George’s County native who still lives in his hometown, learned how to appreciate and admire music through his father, Percy Campbell. Percy, a Philadelphia native, played electric bass for such groups as Donald Bird and the Blackbirds, and Crown Heights Affair, while attending Howard University in the 70’s. "One of the most valuable things my father taught me was to have a great appreciation for music because music is universal, and can defy all race and culture barriers to give everyone a common medium by which we can all laugh, cry, or sing." Donnie was encouraged to develop his musical gifts meanwhile playing and listening to classic artists such as Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire, Hall and Oates, Rolling Stones, and Pattie Labelle, who later influenced his creative direction.

Donnie has been through quite a bit of adversity, but he feels that he has been through equally enough uplifting and positive situations that help him and others around him. When he does reach the success by which he feels he deserves, one could look back at his past and empathize with his feelings as well. “Through all my years, I’ve strived to be just who I am, because I feel that I’m important enough to me to be me. I never tried to be something I’m not. Hopefully, people can see a little bit of themselves in me, and see how I pulled through my struggles, and it will inspire them to do great things”, Donnie says with sincerity.

"I am what I do. I am what others need me to be. I am what I accomplish."-NIV

New.York City  Presents.... Michael Alexandre -aka-Arsiney, born April 10, 1986 to the times when epidemics came in threes; drugs, violence, and HIV . Although, he was raised in this era, his fate differed. His parents were epidemic-free! In the midst of it all, they introduced him to music such as Quincy Jones, James Brown, and Black Ivory to name a few. His father, a habitual guitar player and mother a soulful listener, gave Arsiney a blueprint to all that he wanted his life to be. Through sound and rhythm, rap became his reason and protest!

"All talent needs a home away from home"

At the age of 12 he joined a rap group called Relicz , teamed by Ars' manager Ray Graham and Ivan Tibbs. Nevertheless, a leading light took its place, and Arsiney embrace his solo spot .The Relicz parted ways with no hard feelings, and Cypha of the Relicz   supports his accomplishments thus far. Arsiney was young and curious beyond his lyrics, and Ivan Tibbs identified his drive. Ivan into Music Production and Ray being a Music Engineer, both  introduced him to the production portion of music, and Arsiney excelled!

Ray Graham and Ivan Tibbs forseen his abilities from the start, and knew they had to keep him focus and strong-minded to prepare for what is to come. Arsiney's outlet at the time was the studio, where he could release his inner-city facings on the mic. Ray's Headquater studio kept him off the streets most of the time, but living in the streets showed him how to hustle, hearing gun shots made him appreciate life and losing friends along the way made him want to speak. The studio also gave him a safe zone. His love for music shows with each track he records. Arsiney once wrote "WELCOME TO MY WORLD. LOUD, CALM, REAL, COLORFUL, HATE, LOVE, PAIN, STREET. I COULD USE EVERY WORD TO DESCRIBE MY MUSIC, BECAUSE MY MUSIC IS ME AND IT REFLECTS THE THINGS THAT GO ON IN MY MIND. WHEN I PRODUCE I LIKE TO PAINT A PICTURE. YOU SEE FOR ME SOUND IS ONLY 1D TO GIVE YOU 3D I HAVE TO BRING THE LISTENER DEEPER INTO THE MUSIC, ITS MORE THEN JUST WHAT THEY HEAR, BECAUSE FOR ME WHEN I HEAR SOUNDS AND DRUMS IN MY MIND I SEE BACKDROPS AND COLORS AND STORIES BEHIND THEM. SO WHEN YOU HEAR A SONG THAT I PRODUCED IF ITS R&B I WANT YOU TO FEEL THE MUSIC AND VISUALIZE EVERY ESSENCE OF EVERY SOUND IN THE PRODUCTION. WHEN YOU HEAR KEYS BEING PLAYED ON THE KEYBOARD I WANT YOU TO SEE STARS DANCING WITH EVERY RISING NOTE ON THE PIANO. IF YOU HEAR A SOULFUL SAMPLE I WANT TO FILL YOUR SOUL WITH WHATS IN MINES, AND THAT'S REALLLLLLL MUSIC.

Now Signed to Unimagined Ent Music Productions, he looks forward to his first international release called Music Sex Mda's & Converses, which features his music production and songwriting skills with Ivan Tibbs Executive Producer for the project. This project will make way for his solo debut and the major possibilities of being signed to major label. ( Arsiney is like no one I have ever worked with, our music minds are similar, We live a music world that if its different its hot. Arsiney cannot be put in a bubble. He's you, He's me, He's our children, He is the world ) - Ivan T....

Much in the way ancient Egyptian scribes used hieroglyphics to artistically document the historical events of their people, The Gliffics uses his lyrical sensibilities and flow to tell his own personal history, weaving his take on life with lessons he's learned the hard way. His rapping moniker, an abbreviation of "hieroglyphics," is a throwback to the Egyptian father he never had the chance to know. Only three-years-old when his father died, young Amir Mohamed Elshafiy faced a line of hardships growing up in Queens, New York. He struggled to stay in school through rough times at home; his mother worked two jobs to get by, but they still experienced bankruptcy and eviction. He spent much of his childhood trying to learn and practice Islam, but with his father's guidance gone and his Russian Jewish mother working around the clock to keep food on the table, keeping his Muslim identity was a confusing and difficult task to figure out as a kid. Before making it to high school he was taken to juvenile hall, spending the next two years behind bars and in and out of group homes. At 16 he was sent to Rikers Island and made it out with five years of probation with electronic monitoring. The stint at Rikers was a turning point in Gliffics' turbulent life, and from the moment he was released, hip hop was his new outlet.

The Gliffics began writing music and performing around his new neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY, rolling with a friend who showed him the ropes of becoming a lyricist. He spent the next two years working on his craft, and then a friend introduced him to Ben "Fex" Solano, a composer and producer who was building a talented team at Mihz Productions. After talking to Gliffics and hearing him freestyle, Fex knew that his potential was huge, owing not just to his talent but to Gliffics' impressive discipline and motivation. Fex and Gliffics have worked together ever since, creating a sound as original as Gliffics' lyrics, lines that deftly rhyme and flow to share the experiences of a negative past on the streets yet inspire a positive future that rises far above life's circumstances. To meet and know Gliffics now, you probably wouldn't guess him to be the same Amir Elshafiy from his years growing up. With his debut album in the works, a music video in pre-production, a marketing plan underway and show dates being booked both in the U.S. and in Egypt, The Gliffics' presence will be felt as he shares his innovation in music and proves his personal mantra, "Don't let your past predict your future."
