He was raised purely off Hip-Hop stating “all my dad used to play was Tribe and a lot of what we now consider old school Hip-hop." As he got older he played with rap, until he formed a group with some of his high school friends, who were managed then by now friend/partner Julien Edwards. After the group fell out, he knew he had to succeed in the Hip-Hop game. With his freshly-unique flow and witty, yet captivating lyrical content, people are already beginning to whisper about Hope being one of the best in LA. Urbansteez.com: Tell us your name, and what area do you represent?

Hope: Im Compton's and Fresh 2 Def's own H.O.P.E.

Urbansteez.com: How long have you been pursuing a career in the music industry?

Hope: Thats a good question. See I been rapping for more than half my life but actual "pursuit" would have had to have been recent.

Urbansteez.com: What were you into before music?

Hope: Shit, I was your average lil' Compton boy out there. Chasing girls and shoes with my NBA dreams. I was big into painting and movies. I wrote a small screenplay once when I was 10 called Rudolphf about a little boy and his love for his dog. But the music ambition was always there, but at that time I didn't know anything about getting on that track to get the where I want to go.

Urbansteez.com: As an artist how would you describe your style and why?

Hope: My style? Thats a weird question because when you ask most rappers that, 95% of them start name dropping; "Im Milwaukee's Jay-Z", "My style is hard Like Jada but I gotta soft side 'Fill in the blank'". My style is just that, MY STYLE. I'm from the era of rappers that grew up listening to the generation of MCs before us and actually learned more than mimicked. I feel as though me and mine are that NEXT that everyone has been waiting on while all these older MCs just stall for more shine time. Does that answer your question?

Urbansteez.com: Yea, I see! If you had your pick which label to be signed to, which label would it be and why?

Hope: The one I'm on now. Its like basketball, you have to have that comradery and that chemistry to make the perfect music. Plus theres no other group of guys that I'd rather get rich with then the niggas I call Brothers now. Fresh 2 Def.

Urbansteez.com: Fresh 2 Def , Yessir!! Who in your future would you want to collaborate with and why?

Hope: Ryan Leslie is a dope producer, and Timbo is my personal favorite, Big Sean he's an artist on G.O.O.D. Music, because he's one of the few other young Westcoast artists I can tolerate, Daz is a dope producer, so is Diddy. Alchemist, Jermaine Dupri. Mainly producers. Having another rapper RAPPING with you doesn't help you grow I've noticed. I'd just like to see what all these other accomplished Producers have to offer.

Urbansteez.com: What are you working on now, and when can we expect to hear more of you?

Hope: My next mixtape "FOLLOW THE LEADER" and an album, im bouncing different titles around. Right now, its just exciting to work with other "up-and-comers" who have the same desires and dreams as I do. So right now I'm just working.

Urbansteez.com: Who are your influences?

Hope: My shit is mostly movie influenced. I sit around and watch whatever movie is on then the Ideas pour in. Nas, as an artist, is the only rapper that inspires me to rap myself though.

Urbansteez.com: What do you think of the hip hop / music world right now?

Hope: What do I think of hip hop right now? Its right where it should be. People get in a habit of holding on too long to whats good right now. Example: People wanna hold on to Jordan so tight, its hard for them to grasp the fact the Kobe is that nigga right now. The same with HipHop, we don't wanna let Jay, Nas, Snoop and them go. Shit, they had to let go of BDK, Ice T, and Rakim to get the B.I.G.s, Puns and Jays. But I also think HipHop has conditioned its fans to be biased like that and have tunnel vision. Why? I dunno.

Urbansteez.com: What will you do with your first royalty check?

Hope: Put that shit away. Act like I never saw it and work on getting the next one; and the next one. I'll blow the whole 3rd one though, I promise.

Urbansteez.com: Thats wassup!! When you make it big, what car will you first purchase?

Hope: Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT-S, Goodbye.

Urbansteez.com: DAMN, no warm up car?? No benz , Just straight to the point!!! What's in your sound system right now?

Hope: Right now, J Arms, any volume. I love the new Snoop and the new Rick Ross, and, of course, Herbie Hancock (Laughs!).

Urbansteez.com:  That Herbie be knocking....(lol) So, which female in the game would you pursue first and why?

Hope: I'd say Zoe Kravitz, Lenny's daughter. Google her.
